Tracktion's freeze pretty fast to use - unfreeze->edit->freeze again in a few seconds. But editing without messing with it much better!

Let's face it: that's because Tracktion's freeze was firstlet's not go there, please. that's FAR from what i mean. Tracktion's freeze is retarded.
What you're suggesting is basically a continuing rendering option. Since rendering usually takes quite a while, it would still be tedious to edit and quite possible create a flood of: 'why is my host running so sluggish while I only edit one note' complaints. A good background freeze would have to be quite intelligent to work as you suggest and therefore not simple to implement at all.

Unfortunatly i don't own cubase, i used sx2 at my sound school so i'm jugging by sx2 - you win!
