What would you ask for in a New Reverb?

Oh Yes.
I went to this Health Spa relaxation place in the Canary islands when I was on holiday last year,
and they had this one spa room filled with salt water, where you could float in, put your head back and listen to the under water music. Fantastic.
Might be a little dificult to record.
Do water submersible microphones exist?

Of course. Havn't you ever heard Flipper talk?
(For those of you outside of the USA, Flipper was a show that came out 40 years ago or so, with a talking dolphin. Well he talked in Dolphin (high pitch chatter) but could understand what you said to him.)

Maybe I'll include Dolphin Voice recognition.

Now I do not know exactly how a IR Reverb functions, but I try to imagine how it is done, and I was thinking, does it matter how many of the freqencies that is reproduced from the IR regarding the cpu consumption. probably not, but if it does, you could split the IR into different freqency components, and granulize them different places in the reverbration proces. Tell me if I am talking nonsense here.

I think what you're describing is the kind of thing Izotope Spectron does.

That is not a reverb to my knowledge, I have tried it.I think what you're describing is the kind of thing Izotope Spectron does.

If you have Absynth, try this, sample a little snippet of reverb, the volume of it should be really low, load it in absynth as a granular sample, with density set to 8, time set to zero, make an envelope for grain time, and sample start, make settings for some of the granular options, and you are off.

OK, I don't have Absynth yet, but when I do, I'll try it.

It would have to nail the Lexicon, because that is the only thing we are really missing in VST reverbs at this point. If it is not the Lexicon, you really shouldn't bother.

ConvoBoy and SIR can do this today, if you can capture the impulse responses of those places.toine6 wrote:I would like a reverb that sounded like I was outdoors. Either on the city streets, in the mountains, by some trees, out in the flat desert, or by a canyon. The OutdoorVerb Vst Reverb if you will.

HI
Things I look for in a reverb that range from common to rare are -
Spring - very few if anyone has pulled this one off, a zingy, metallic and clangerous (?) sound.
Plate - practically no early delay with eq to make it bright/dark or anywhere in between.
Modulation and movement - Yes you can add them after a standard reverb but having them built in makes it all gel - so I am thinking subtle movement/panning, a sprinkle of phase/flange or chorus for modulation.
True stereo parallel processing - this can make a massive difference with seperate types of reverb on each channel or simply differing early/late reflections causing a nice soundscape.
Pre/post eq - in fact being able to place eq/pan/modulation/gate/reverb anywhere within the chain.
Flipper.

Thank you for all the great responses.
What I want to achieve with both the delay and reverb is Ultimate Control and endless modulation options. So all these suggestions are great.
Sorry to dissapoint, but this probably won't be available for at least 2 years.
I am not a programmer, so this will most likely be a Collaborative project.
I haven't started Uni yet and hope to learn a lot there.
Hopefully by the time they are available, we will be using G6 Dual CPU Dual Cores, and will easily achieve Very low latency and smooth real time control.
I am primarily a musician/composer and these plugins really have been born out of necessity, sure there are a lot of FX out there, put a
Sequenced Pitch Shifting delay with 64 individual filters?
And a delay that can load at least 2 IRs and mix them together.
I think not, er hope not.
