Hey, I didn't say Fruity was bad either! I LOVE FL and it's my sequencer. It's just that I've READ some complains about it...

I'll explain: I'm going to buy a Virus Indigo, they sell it to me very very cheap, and so I plan to use it within FL. But since some people say FL is not very good for hardware synths...but it's true some people say the contrary. of course I'll try it as soon as I have the synth.

another thing is PDC. I'm buying this Virus because I want to see if i really like the Virus (I mean I've heard it and like its sounds a lot, I meant if I like using the Virus) and so my wish will be finally to buy the new Virus TI. And I'll want to know when the time comes if lack of PDC in FL is a problem or not. that's why I was meditating other hosts, that's all.

Guess I misunderstood the comments about FL, now I see what you guys meant.

I got to thinking about why someone would say FL isn't good for hardware synths and there are some gray areas that I'm no sure about. I don't use system Bulk dump and that sort of thing, and there may be problems with it inside FL Studio , possibly. Along side FL I use a librarian or the synth itself to save my patches and things. The way I work does well if all you want to do is record and playback your hardware synth midi info. and then record the audio of it into FL. The other cool thing is that I've got a UC-16 (a 16 knob controller) and I can even set things up so that I can control my hardware synth with it, but even more importantly I can easily map my hardware knobs inside of FL and then record my synths knob movements and edit them later if necessary. I guess my opinion is that FL works awesome for hardware, I neither need or want anything else. I think with both Tracktion and FL you should be thouroughly covered for what you want to do.

I'm guessing that what people are really complaining about is the way that FL works with audio files. If you already have recorded vocals into it then you know what I mean, it's a little rough on the audio end, but it's not that bad really. I don't even use SX anymore, just been using FL for the last year or so.

that's exactly what I intend to do.
Just incorporate the sounds from my brand-new virus I haven't received yet into my songs.

I hope that's true, it will make me very very happy cos I love FL.

I've been recording vocals for almost 2 years, since 99% of my songs are with vocals. What problems are you referring to?

thanks

No real problems, it's just sorta quirky and long-winded. I guess there are short cuts that make it simpler, but I have yet to take the time to figure out all of them, so I have to jump back and forth from the mixer to the playlist to the step sequencer. It's just more steps, it isn't laid out all nice and neat. In something like Tracktion you can just quickly arm the track and record, edit arrange, move, stetch, add fx, cut paste etc.

Well get excited then, 'cuz FL's gonna work just fine for your new Virus !

You'll configure your Midi setting and will use the box where it say's port number to assign different ports to your midi out. Then you'll open a MIDI OUT generator like you would any other Vsti in the step sequencer, match the port number with the number you assigned in your midi output port options and you should be pretty well set. There's more to because of all the different set-up option one can choose, but you should figure out what works best for you soon enough. You'll also notice all the knobs on the midi out channel generator. You can assign each of those knobs to a knob on the virus, and then be able to record all of your knob movements. I think you just right click on a knob/ select link to controller/ and then move a knob on your virus and it will move the virtual knob/ you can then set up each knob for all your virus knobs and save the setting if you want to use them for other projects.

Anyway, I've gotta get some sleep PM me if you have any questions. Enjoy
