I have a question concerning the new 3.0 tweaked sounds. I already own the box set of volume 1-5. Will they come out with a 3.0 ized version of this as well. Also, more importantly what is the difference in the sounds???? Are they new patches. I was a Reason 3.0 beta tester and the combinator is quite amazing to say the least and I know the power of it. I am just curious if the 3.0 ized patches will be different and in what way?? Can we get some demos!!!!!!

Thanks Squids for the update!!!!!!!!! We all knew this was coming for the combinator and this is great news.

Having seen the illustration on that page, I've just now realized the rationale behind the Props providing skinning capability in the Combi. It's a business tool -- and fun for amateurs and semi-pros -- a toothpaste -- and a floor disinfectant! Clever. (I just saw the fun angle before, typically for me.)

Demos for Retro Keys and Vocal Textures are on www.esoundz.com on the product pages. Those audio demos there were made with the R3 versions so you can get an idea of the depth I think from those due to the Combinator.

We are redoing Volumes 1-20 into R3 versions. There will be added patches, not much added sample content if any (I am thinking about adding some orchestral performance stuff to Film Orchestra refill though but that's about it... maybe beef up the Piano and Organ refill a little too... we'll see.). For libs that have Rex loops there will FINALLY be some cool Dr. Rex patches made via the Combinator!!! This is cool because there are some great synth processing things you can do with it that previously couldn't be put into a library.

The big difference though is that there will be 50-100 Combinator patches added to each collection and they are really a step up for the sound of Reason because of the use of effects processing and creative "combi-making" which SR loves to do (as in Sonik Synth 2 for example). There are some really cool sounds on Retro Keys that to be honest with you it is now night and day compared to the original version. The original version was pretty good but this version 3 one is fantastic because of the Combinator.

Vocal Textures and Mello-T were already excellent but they are that much better with the Combinator patches (and yes the fun "skin" gives them some personality too).

We're also going to be releasing a bunch of new titles soon as well. Now that we can do combis and patches with fx, Reason is looking that much more like an SR place to be. Expect good things to come.

That said, we're doing no less support for SampleTank and in fact we're adding Giga 3 support this year as well. Maybe more but we'll see.

so squids, what about people that own the sonic refil? will there be some kind of upgrade we can download or buy to get to the 3.0 version?
hey bud! whats yur problem?

Squids, thanks for the quick reply. I just realized that there WAS a difference in the vocal demo from the m-audio page and the new 3.0 version. I don't know how you guys do what you do and still respond to this forum so dag on fast, but keep up the good work!!! Thanks again for the info.

I was wondering about the upgrading for 3.0 as well. I have the Vocal Textures but was wondering if I will be able to download the upgraded combi-patches or if I use the upgrade option from ezsounds will it have to be shipped to me. Thanks.

How is the vocal refill. I want to get it and am really considering it now, with the new patches.

I think it is ok. You can get some nice textures out of it. For the price, you probally won't be able to find better.

I don't think we're doing a straight up version 3 of the existing Sonic Refill "box set" (the single disc that has vol 1-5). We may do something else that you can upgrade to but at minimum you can pay a small fee for the upgrade to any or all of the first 5 volumes which the first Sonic Refill is made up of.

I'll have more official news when we have the next generation stuff relating to either those titles or some kind of large box set type thing similar to this (if we go that route).

Hmmm...this is not at all clear (at least not to me) from the page on esoundz, which talks about "several" new combinator modules (see http://www.esoundz.com/details/viewDeta ... ductID=283). I've been scratching my head trying to figure out why I'd want to pay nearly twice as much for "several" combinator modules (which wouldn't take that much time to program myself) when I could buy the refills, sans these few combinator modules, from the Prop Shop for only $58. Perhaps you guys should put up a listing of the different combinator patches you've come up with for each refill? I certainly didn't pick up that we were talking about 50-100 new combinator patches.

Just a thought,

I would like to have a list up there. There are 50-100 per title. I think the "several combinator modules" was talking about the three titles (which each have their own backdrop skin).

The one on the Propshop is EXACTLY the same exept that their is a download-only and ours is a disc-only version (and ours ALSO has a 2.5 version on it too in case someone doesn't have R3 yet).

It's not twice as much as Propshop. It's only a $10. difference on the advertised price and if you are an esoundz member who has purchased from there before then you get discounts that make it even better.

Thanks, that makes sense. Not to be picky, but it is nearly double the cost on the prop shop, at least when you're looking at the bundle. Esoundz has the bundle of 3 refills going for $109. The props have it in a "3 for 2" deal for $58. From the Prop Shop:
Now here's a sweet deal! Buy all three Sonic Reality ReFills and get them for the price of two! Vocal Textures, Retro Keys and the Mello-T - why not get them all?

Price: 58.00 USD
Thanks for the clarification, as I see that these are actually a pretty good deal with the number of combinator patches you're talking about.

I see. Well, it's going to be a better deal on the PropShop because it is a download. It'll at least be $10 more on esoundz for the physical product. That said, I think maybe we'll lower the price of the bundle to $68 for now. How does that sound?

That's great! I usually prefer getting CDs to downloads. I'm happy to spring for the extra $10! Thanks very much, Dave!
