A good friend recommended
the music of Phantomsmasher to me.
Sounds...
Although I'm into music like Naked Lunch or Fantômas
and listen to a lot of electronic music including noise and ambient stuff,
I've never heard of Phantomsmasher or other projects of the artist James Plotkin.
And although it's really strange music I enjoyed the melodic, aggressive, repetitive, etc mixture.
A freaked out combination of noisecore, ambient moments and digital processing.

They were Atomsmasher before. Jim Plotkin started in a grindcore band called Old Lady Drivers (or just OLD) in the 80's. They mutated into a strange sort of electro-prog-metal hybrid. Plotkin also played guitar on Scorn's 'Evanescence' album and tour. He's done a lot of solo dark ambient type things and collaborated with KK Null and Mick Harris, among others. He's currently playing guitar in Khanate (excellent industrial-dirge-doom-metal band) as well. A good starting point is his 'Joy of Disease' cd on John Zorn's Avant label.

OLD-heh..haven't heard that name in awhile..Didn't know he did guitars on Evanesence either. Have to add it to the prodigous list of material I've missed the bus on..
