I'm thinking of The Life Aquatic With Steve Ziszou when Bill Murray [sp?] learns he has a son and goes for a walk and suddenly 'Life on Mars' is playing and it just seems like Bowie wrote the song for exactly that scene. I guess you know what i mean if you've seen the film.

Every piece Stanley Kubrick uses for his films did not exist beforehand IMO.
But Stanley just gave classical, avant garde, pop such a new shining character in his movies.
Except for Eyes Wide Shut, he didn't quite have that nailed down as best he could have? The Chris Isaak tune got good notority from it, but was badly placed. And the title music just made it feel like The Godfather 4 for some strange reason?
