Probably not unless, your in Sweden... Shipping is going slowly. I haven't received mine yet (USA), and it's been a couple weeks already... Basically, though it's louder (mastering suite) and has more instrument options with the combinator... That's about it!! So if you didn't like Reason before, you probably still won't like it... I couldn't tell any difference in the overall sound myself (Beta tester), other than the aforementioned loudness... But the combinator sure makes some great patches!!

Guitar Center already has it in stock. I picked up mine Sunday.Probably not unless, your in Sweden... Shipping is going slowly. I haven't received mine yet (USA)
As for better sound quality, I was happy with the sound I got from Reason 2.5. They supposedly did some tweaks to the sound engine, but I'm not sure my ears are good enough to tell the difference.
I've only had a chance to play with Reason 3 for a little bit. The two things I noticed right away is how much faster samples loaded into memory and some of the neat things that were done with the combinator in the Factory Sound Bank patches. The sound has definitely improved in the patches and samples that comes with it.
Bottom line is that I'm happy with the money I spent to upgrade to Reason 3. I'm sure others will have more indepth comments. As for if the sound quality has improved, why not download the new demo yourself and try it out?

Well so much for the "special" beta tester treatment...

Check your email, DHR...the Props have very generously provided a little "extra" compensation for the beta testers.

I just got my upgrade 4 ours ago
The sound quality is actually better the bad aliasing and phasing in the low, and high keys in the subtractor is gone
The new sound bank is 100% better than the one in 2.5 + the wav output has got a dither option.
I also love the new handling of refills, where you can chose to create a device via patch loading
(no more guessing which refill is for nn19 or nnxt ++)
The other thing i like about the new browser is that you can play the sounds while you browse and select them instanly.
Well that is all i have reached to explore so far

Just got it this afternoon. Agree that it sounds better: cleaner. And, they actually explained everything finally in the Help, unbelievable, it's almost three hundred pages. New browser is great, new sounds interesting: there's the Strawberry Fields Mellotron sound for the Malstrom: a hint. On install it found my PCR 50 and the selected device -- Subtractor, etc. -- had auto-automation of sliders and knobs, pretty cool, can be over-ridden. But the surprise to me is the Mastering Suite. People said it was good, but still I thought, yikes, nice. The Combinator, don't know, the patches they supply sound great but that's what I like to do, tweak stuff, so not sure yet, need more time. But after an initial hmmm about this upgrade I'm pretty psyched now. Also, there's an interesting harbinger of things to come in the Flatpack 2 Refill: these guys have been licensed I guess to create their own Combinator effect thingys with custom GUI etc. Oh those crazy $wede$!
P.S.--Have you guys ever tried the Peff trick of routing left and right channels to two different faders in a Mixer? Changes everything...

I think its funny that 3 magazines gave it exactly the same score, that sounds like they are taking the safe route...

Were you one of those snotty rich kids
Grew up in Parma myself (hence the name)
Now I live in Parma...Heights!
Big move, I know.
Wherever I go, I always seem to run into someone from this area. The weirdest one was in Corpus Christie, Texas. I was there working on an indie film and I was in the very small airport waiting for my flight home. I went into an airport bar, was asked to show my ID (I was 24 at the time) and the bartender saw Parma on my license and it turns out he grew up about four blocks away from me. Never thought I'd run into someone from Parma working in a crummy airport bar in some backwater airport in Texas. Life is fun like that.

YES! I always do it, makes a huge difference. I got the 3 update, but haven't had a chance to mess with it much. I wonder if Peff trick is still worth doing.gizmo wrote: P.S.--Have you guys ever tried the Peff trick of routing left and right channels to two different faders in a Mixer? Changes everything...

I've always started a track in Reason, and then rewired. I have a sort of patchbay setup going on, where I can listen to a track in Reason, and just connect the outputs in Live - makes the rewire implementation excellent!
