The sound of the first MP3 posted is freaking amazing but I couldn't be bothered to do such a thing myself as I would only cut myself in the fingers or anywhere else (I'm a miserable DIY dude).

Well, Sascha,

Looooong notes are not in my acumen with this instrument as it takes quite a bit of breath just to keep the reed in resonance.

I will get to this eventually. Tonight, I'm doing reviews of the KVR song contest.

These all sound much more like kazoos/oboes than clarinets, even though they are constructed much more like clarinets are... interesting.

In fact, their sound is the OPPOSITE of what a clarinet sounds like. Cool, huh?

Actually, I've gotten very similar tones out of those birthday-party roll-out blower things - you can actually get lots of different partials on those things

You could really get some evil sounds out of this pen clarinet/duduk/whatever.

I only wish I knew more about the physics of placing the holes properly - I'd make a literally honking huge one out of 1" i.d. PVC tube with a wide rubber band for a reed.
