Pro-tools files - how to get normal wavs?

Hi
A friend just sent me his mix in protools format (as Pro Tools session) - he apparently thought that I (and the singer I'm working with) only needed a backup.
The thing is, we needed (and still do) just the normal wav files (we're redoing the vocals).
Is there an easy way to convert the damn thing into wavs? Would Pro-Tools demo allow that?
He was working on a tdm rig, but files should open in LE too, right?

ProTools doesnt normally keep the audio files as part of the session, so if thats all he's sent you, you're probably screwed anyways.
You need the 'Audio Files' folder that the session refers to, or at least the files in there that the session uses.

Hmmm, let me see...
He included the audio folder (it's 3 cds, 44.1/24), but I guess if I try to open those. I'll have no means of aligning the tracks. I don't think the'ye saved as one per track.

Nope, you probably wont. The audio files are going to be original audio files (and the session will note any non-destructive edits that have been applied, like slipping start and end points) plus new files for any destructive edits that have been applied. One file can also contain regions which have been split up and moved to several different tracks..
TDM sessions will open in LE, AFAIK, but any TDM plugins are gonna be missing so Ive no idea what'll happen there. If he's not bounced down you'll probably just get unprocessed sound. Is it LE that you're on? Or something else. Have you got OMF support in your host, you could use that if you do. If not your best bet would be to get him to export one track at a time to new audio files, to be honest...

I'm not using Pro Tools Le. I thought if there was a demo I could somehow export the tracks.
no go, he'll have to give me track by track wavs.

these (audiofiles) are usually sounddesigner files, chopped as regions (with overlaps) if author hasn't consolidated them. there's a wild workaround opening them as raw but - tell your friend to export at least busses as wavs.

you can watch in the folder if all *.wav has the same lenght(size). that should say that he has consolidated every tracks and exported them from 00.00.000. If it's not the case...then no luck
