I am currently using Cubase SL that is 2 years old. I am about to upgrade and thought I would look at other recorders/sequencers. I am trying to decide between the new Sonar (I think version 4) and Cubase SX 3.
I want to be able run Reason in slave mode, use VST plug-ins and instruments, record/edit/mix all in the same software, process plug-ins in the audio. I believe both Cubase SX 3 and Sonar 4 can do these things. I am happy with Cubase and Steinberg but I hear great things about Sonar.
Does any one have advice for me?
Thanks
upgrading my recording software

I went thru the same decision about 3 months ago...Cubase or Sonar, and ended up buying FL Studio, very happy & no more paying for upgrades. Once you get past the initial shock of pattern based editing, you realize you actually have more flexibility than before. Anyway the demo is free to download & does everything but save (I sound like a marketing person now). Good luck
my sig will go here

The only way up from Cubase is Tracktion
It does what you ask but is much more comfortable to use.
On the other, hand I wouldn't change host after years of satisfied use, unless for a very good reason. It will take a considerable amount of time to get used to new way of working.

I'm very happy with Sonar. But I have to agree with Pakana. Stay with Steinberg if you're satisfied with their product.pakana wrote:On the other, hand I wouldn't change host after years of satisfied use, unless for a very good reason.
