Well, finally got it mixed..

Ended up with a late 70's UK New Wave/ Pub Rock sound (Elvis Costello, Graham Parker, Squeeze, XTC, Police, etc). I tried to keep a live feel as much as possible.

Used my usual suspects, with Betabugs MonstaChorus and Chorrosive getting a good showing.. Oh, and that darned falsetto got in there somehow again...

I almost almost almost used a real guitar, but what with trying to get my laptop to record vocals reasonably, trying to mike an acoustic was going to be toooo much.. anyway, piano roll is always a laugh for trying to get a decent strum! I used 2 SF2s in SFZ - a Clean Guitar from Hammersound, and GeoffKahns excellent Ultimate Guitar Kit - both run through the right channels to sound vaguely convincing..

Enjoy!

It's been a while since I participated, but who can argue with a free-for-all competition :)

I think I've used less instruments that I've ever done before but made more variation than ever. Weird.

I used:
EWQLSO Silver
Stylus RMX
Z3ta+
Reaktor 4
Done in Cubase SE.

It's very film score-ish; orchestral and electronic.
It's called
Truth hurts

took me awhile because of another bout of flu - you see, I wanted to sing - and sing something countryish and balladish :o Don't worry, there's guitars and synths in this one too!

Not Her Hero Anymore

It's about myself and my ex-fiancee, who thanks to a number of problems (many of them mine) we never went through with the wedding, to my regret.

"Well we were young and so in love
We even planned a wedding day,
It seemed our future was so bright
But then it all just blew away,
You see I made a big mistake
That cooled the fire of our amour
Now she and I are far apart
I'm just no longer in her heart
I'm not her hero anymore

I live inside a world of hurt
A victim of my idiot pride
I dragged her heart right through the dirt
Her new contempt she could not hide
And now I walk this road alone
No longer welcome at her door
She went and found somebody new
I want her back but know we're through
I'm not her hero anymore"

Hi,

I'm new to these forums (registered last week), but I've been a frequent browser for about a year now.
Finally got registered here since I noticed how cool forum you have here...

Anyway, here's my KVR Contest Entry: March 2005

Instrumental Tech Metal Song
titled as "Devil's Playground"

Download Devil's Playground by clicking here

Guitars: Customized Ibanez RG550-EX (2001 model, with lo-pro edge). I used amplitube for all guitars (both rhythm and lead) with the freeware g-suite plugin to give the guitars more bite...
Drums: Played with Evolution MK-361C midi keyboard, triggered samples from DFH
Bass: Played with Evolution MK-361C midi keyboard, samples from Hypersonic
Synth: Played with Evolution MK-361C midi keyboard, samples from Atmosphere

Composing, arranging, improvising, performing and production by Markus Vahtola

Oh yeah, and I used few plugins for a bit reverb and echo on the lead guitar and I also used compressor for various purposes...

And if anyone wants to know this song was born yesterday morning, finished it in a few hours... Everything seemed to flow with this one. However, some might need few listens before getting into it :)

Especially the beginning is multilayered guitar madness ;)
