and

What do you guys think?

I'm suprised I haven't seen anyone bitching out here about the fact that over 95% of the track is a sample from Breakwater's "Release the Beast". Gotta say though, I'm kinda glad Daft Punk lifted this track cause I tracked down the original - and it KICKS ASS! Tasty funk.

I love the new Daft CD by the way.

HAve been thinking about geting it...

I think the entire album is a washout.
I thought it was a fake when I first heard it.

I love the boys Punk full stop, so its all good to me! New album appears to be a significant step forward, so I'll be VERY interested to check it out.

Post

It's certainly no big step forward. More like continuation of the good ol daft punk we're all used to.

I quite enjoy the 'prime time of your life'. The kings of vocoder at their best.

Yeah, that's one of my faves too. 8)
I love the way it speeds up and spins out of control at the end. Pummeling.

Holy Jesus, TALK ABOUT REPETITIVE.

Cool riff...but it aint cool enough to last 4 minutes of pure repetition.

I was going to buy the album, but I hope their single is not representative of the rest of the album.

I'm honestly a bit dissapointed with it. When Homework came out in 97 is was fresh. Funky stuff with some cool new tricks. Then Discovery had a lot of different stuff in it - they seemed to have evolved. Now this one isn't that bad, but it's really only 9 tracks, and the stuff is very repetative and doesn't seem to take on anything new. It's very minimal compared with Discovery.

I like Human After All and Make Love alot :) But it's not all that great - like Steam Machine for instance - c'mon Daft, you can do better.

yeah.. somewhat cheese (if you will..)

though I have the homework album.. some/most of the songs on their get out of hand too but the album seems so alive to me..

Agree
Daft punk just suck now. They are just samplers on legs.

Cute :hihi: But I think the Punk's getting on a bit, now. I think after they released their extremely limited edition Franz Ferdinand remix (don't worry if you haven't heard it, imagine "Take me Out" with a self-oscillating resonator sweeping over the top with no apparent musicallity, and you've got it) it was a sign that it was time to call it a day ... :hihi:

Personally, I think Daft Punk have always sucked. They had a couple of pretty catchy songs on the first album, and the rest of it was repetitive garbage. I seem to recall one track which had just a kick drum by itself going on for something like a whole minute! Discovery was slightly better- they did stretch out and try new things, and there were another 3-4 catchy but repetitive songs. The new album just illustrates what I've always felt about them... it seems as if their songs start out with an intro, and then you wait for the intro to lead into the meat of the song, but the meat never comes, and all you are stuck with is the intro repeating over and over and over for 4 1/2 minutes. :x

For some inexplicable reason, I keep buying their CDs, wanting really badly to like them, challenging myself to get into the repetitiveness and accept it as some innovative, groundbreaking new style.

The more I listen, the more I realize the sad truth- they just aren't very good. :(
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Right.
"Da funk" was da bomb -was released on Soma label (first), some good tracks on 1st virgin lp, then fell into mediocrity.

I've never liked them, I never understood the fuss over Homework, it was a bit shit in my humble opinion.
