CMuzys: Change time signature mid-song?

Well, Jo's little tip on the option I'd overlooked solved my last problem. On to the next one:

I've got a portion of the composition I'm working on that's in 5/4, while most of it is in 4/4. Since the help file says "Beats per Bar : Allows setting the number of beats per bar for this Composition" I take it that I can't shift time signatures mid-stream. So how can I build up a piece that uses multiple sections in different time signatures without breaks between them?

The beats per bar setting is per composition, as you've found.

What you could do is set the beats per bar to the lowest common multiple or highest common factor of your different time signatures and then have multiple bars per bar.

For example, if you set beats per bar to 20, in 4/4 you'd write five real bars for every Muzys bar and in 5/4 you'd write four real bars per Muzys bar. Now that Jo's pointed out how to have Parts that aren't multiples of a (Muzys) bar in length, this shouldn't be too much of a problem - except you have to do more of your own counting ;-).

(If you were working in 6/8 and 4/4, I'd say set the beats per bar to 2 and have three Muzys bars per real bar in 6/8 and two Muzys bars per real bar in 4/4.)

That's a good suggestion. At this point that's about what I've done, because I concluded it really isn't in 5/4, it's in alternating 4/4 and 2/4 at different tempos. So I'm learning the wonders of using the first track as a tempo track and trying to get a handle on what the heck it is I'm really playing. :D
