dude, why trouble yourself with all this when, for the price of a ghetto-blaster and some plugins, you could get a professional mastering engineer to take care of these tunes for you? i'm not saying that you shouldn't spruce up your monitoring situation; that will definitely help your mixes.
why is everyone so keen on mastering nowadays anyway? it isn't all that fun or glamorous. and what with studios dropping their rates, it's not that much more expensive to outsource it.

It is fun and glamourous, im not going to pay a master to do it. I am the master! I AM THE MASTER!!!!!!!!

Harbal huh? I tried playing with that and ... eh.. I mean its a great program but at the moment I dont exactly have $95 to shell out.
I guess I never really read harbal's mastering guide. Maybe I should just keep a/bing radiohead amnesiac or something
btw i legally own and use adobe audition and tracktion. Looks like this guide on harbal looks like it can help me!

Whats the difference between a table and a pair of stands? How do stands help?

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.Acolmiztli wrote:Whats the difference between a table and a pair of stands? How do stands help?
ie: when your bass / mid driver pushes the air forwards, it also pushes the speaker cabinet backwards, and vice versa. You need to minimise this, as not only will you be losing bass energy, but it will impact on the treble performance (as the tweeter will be moving back and forth in response to the low frequencies).
A good pair of stands (preferably filled with sand) will improve the sound enormously!
