(in other words, am i supposed to be sending MIDI to both the instrument track AND the jamstix track)? how can i use one controller to play an instrument AND send midi for control to jamstix?
Yes, you are supposed to enable MIDI echo on the Jamstix track and the track of your instrument in Sonar. You are also correct on choosing a note that is outside of your normal playing range. Even though you will hear the start and end notes, it is easy to delete them from the final jam.
also, how much delay is there supposed to be between sending the control note and jamstix actually starting with an intro...? it seems like there is an unpredictable delay before the intro starts.
The delay depends on what beat Sonar is on when you press the key. Jamstix will wait until the current bar has ended and will then initiate an intro bar and start playing.
have you notified cakewalk? i have complained to them about other "features" in their adaptor, but they don't seem to be in a hurry to address them. maybe some pressure from developers would help...
I don't think we have much weight to throw around, either...

that's what i figured, but wasn't sure that was what it was doing. i'll play with it some more. been a busy day.

just want to reiterate how impressive your product support has been on this thread and on your own forum. it makes a huge difference to me. i love to support developers with good ideas who display this attribute!

Agree 100% :D
Downloaded/installed mine on Monday and except for a few teething troubles, (no sound :? don't know how I fixed it  ) Jamstix is superb.
Without doubt, and I know it's early, but this gem will win my vote as plug-in of the year
RIP Black Tom and Beckett. They weren't just cats, they were MY cats, the best cats ever.

Jamstix comes with a few bossa and jazzy rhythms to use in the arranger. However, its basic "thinking" is "rock/funk/pop". Jamstix 1.0 produces sensible results in 4/4, 2/4, 6/8 and 3/4. Plans for full support of odd time signatures exist for Jamstix 2.0 next year.

Thanks Zauni, I don't think that that question was difficult, finally you kindly answered something that nobody knew in this forum.
I'm going to buy it now, and wait for 2.0 next year. I need odd time signature!
