This came up in another thread and I thought it might be of general interest so I'm creating a new one to bring some attention to this.

There is a project called SheepShaver which allows you to emulate a Power Macintosh and run Mac OS 9 under Windows XP.

It's still in development so there are going to be quirks but as you can see above it boots and runs Mac OS 9. I haven't extensively tested it yet with any audio apps but I'll be doing that this weekend and may report back into this thread.

If you're interested in running OS X under Windows XP there is always the PearPC project.

OS9 is beautiful, i still use it. Better than OSX or any Windose OS to date.

os9 is great if you like restarting your computer all the time. OSX never freezes on me, programs may crash, but the OS doesn't. course, the people that prefer OS9 to OSX generally don't take the time to understand the OS and how it works.

Why? For several different reasons. I used Macs from the 80s through the 90s and into 2001 when my last one finally died. As a result of all that time on Macs I have a sizeable software collection. Some of these programs are whimsical, some are useful. Plus I have some legacy data I'd like to get to including a bunch of stuff in non-MS Word format.

Plus there are a few tasty Mac-only audio programs I'd like to try.

oh ya? well good for you mac users. I thought this thread was about running OS9 under XP...is there an OSX emulator available for XP? Does it work?
