Quick Q: Capture stream Audio?

Usually, Pro soundcards have internal routing of signals which not everyone has.
But i know that Creative cards can make the input signal "What You Hear", ie. the signal of what you are hearing, so it records what you are playing.
My Terratec card also has this, i can make the input signal a "mix" of wave, line in, mic and etc, so it records what i am playing at any given time.
Of course this is diffrent from soundcard to soundcard.
