Motivated by some posts in the "how low can you go" thread (i.e. http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... highlight=)
this question came to my mind: what kind of music are your children listening to? Any favourites?
I know there are a lot of fathers around here (not sure about mothers). Uncles, big brothers etc. are welcome to participate too

My 3.5 yr old son is usually listening to what is playing on the radio or on the car CD(chosen by me or my wife). His latest obssession is "Movements" by Roots Manuva. Previous was "Goo-goo mac" by The Cramps

I like her taste in music. I bought the previous Kelis album and we independantly each bought the OutKast double album.

the missus bought the Black Eyed Peas CD, surprisingly I quite enjoyed listening to it. I'd never admit that to her though, she'd think she could get away with playing more than once every six months.

anyway looking at that list nuffink, I'd say that's not bad taste for a 10 year old.

my daughter's only 9 months old so we haven't bought her any CDs yet - she only listens to what I play. She def seems to like DJ Shadow tho...

My son, Nigel is nine years old. His favorites are:

Pink Floyd (he wears his "DSOTM" hat everywhere, and he's memorized "The Wall"...should I be worried? )

The Who (especially "Who's Next")

Emerson Lake and Palmer (he loves them all, but has a special fondness for "Trilogy")

The Beatles

The Kinks ("I'm Not Like Everybody Else" has become a mantra for him)

Yeah, he's a bit weird. I made him that way on purpose. He has his own little studio with a 4-track portastudio, MIDI keyboard, little PAIA modular, kid-sized Strat and some effects. He's learning to read music, and does pretty well.

Nuffink - Have you *heard* that Eamon song? for a 10-year-old....

My 9 year old has an iPod shuffle that's never off his ears.
Currently spinning are.....

Green Day
Linkin Park
Prodigy
Fear Factory

All of which I like :-) He has cool taste in music imho.

My 12yo daughter on the other hand hasn't found much that she likes at all :-(
She does like the Scissor Sisters (cool!) but not much else.
Strangely, she is very musical - she plays in a percussion group at her youth club, she's in the school choir and can pick out a tune on the piano by ear.
Can't figure out why someone so naturally musical would find it so hard to find music she likes. A bit sad, really. Maybe she's destined to be a star 8)

yeah - I'm thinking maybe of getting an album of Tibetan Nose Flute Concertos. :hihi:

I'm sure you're right, though. One day she'll hear something. Pity John Peel ain't around any more  Listening to Peely would have significantly increased her chances of finding something.

My daughter, 25: indie, trip-hop;
My son, 17: death metal. He's starting his own band.
Eventually something intelligent will appear written here. Watch this space.

My 15 year old daughter is into 'guitar boy bands'
McFly, Busted, Good Charlotte, Green Day (hang on they're nearly as old as I am!) She is heartily sick of me saying 'they sound just like the Undertones/SLF etc.

BTW how can kids play the same track again and again and again???
