that would be great. cutting folderclips affects all clips in it. best if it were like a normal track with it's own volume, inserts...
maybe if it's not clear how it should work, let's say i have a folder holding a track with a clip from bar 1 to bar 4 and a track with a clip from bar 2 to bar 6. now the folder shows a clip that goes from bar 1 to bar 6 (both clips as one). moving this will naturally move both clips, cutting this clip at bar 3 will cut both clips at bar 3, now i can move around just what i've cut of, and so on..

linking clips to an above level can become a real mess after some editing: either the parts in tracks are "linked" to the folder track, so if you move some parts of the folder track, parts inside thefolders are moved, but now think to the mess it can be with overlapped folder parts, then trying to reselect everyhthing... currently, the best way to manage something like is desribe is to use multi mode and variations, but I agree it could be really better if the variation were contained in a special track.
and about priority, I think it's time to ge to some more modular features...

should be pretty easy to do , adding the common features like select/move/cut/delete/glue/copy .
folders featuring their own volume , inserts , sends etc. is already planned by jorgen AFAIK .

I don't buy it - works flawlessly in Sonarsilicon/silicium wrote:linking clips to an above level can become a real mess after some editing: either the parts in tracks are "linked" to the folder track, so if you move some parts of the folder track, parts inside thefolders are moved, but now think to the mess it can be with overlapped folder parts, then trying to reselect everyhthing...
I agree with the request

hhhmmm, I m a bit curious the way it works. I would love to "link" contents to folder parts, so you can have well defined folder parts like "intro", verse, etc, and overlapping them won't kill the linking, so if you layer intro and verse, then move verse, only verse linked content is moved again. a kind of mix between folders and markers. I d like to have this option.

But in Sonar4 you can only define folders at the 'root' level. You can't nest folders within folders...
I'm not sure, but I think this would impact how things work, for example if you cut and paste folder clips in a nested folder how does the root folder react?

i think the only sensible way to implement this would be if the cutting/pasting only affects folders and their subfolders and NOT parent folders - since you don't want to disturb the whole hierarchy .swivel wrote:I'm not sure, but I think this would impact how things work, for example if you cut and paste folder clips in a nested folder how does the root folder react?
also there should IMO be NO option for moving/pasting to a different set of tracks/folder but the ones cut/moved from .

from the way energyxt is object oriented programmed (i bet) that's no problem. the cut or move command is send to all it's childs. if you think it gets complicated, you don't have to cut folders with folders in it. right ?!
