Hi there
Well in short I am a plum!!!!
But hopefully someone here cane help my silly ass!!
OK, so the story goes like this
I bought a cheap multimedia keyboard & all the buttons didn’t work & the drivers that came with it where for win98 (I’m on win2000 sp4)
So instead of putting up with some of the extra buttons not working I thought I would try add some drivers that I shouldn’t from the list of keyboard drivers in windows
I added a HP driver that it told me wasn’t right for my keyboard & that my ps2 ports might stop working!
I added them thinking I can just remove them if there was a problem
Well I rebooted & bingo, no ps2 keyboard or mouse, so I got my usb mouse out, removed the driver, did the reboot when prompted
Still no ps2 mouse or keyboard!
When I looked in my device manager the correct drivers where back for both keyboard & mouse, & they where set to enabled! But in the properties it said error 32 & that this device could not be activated becouse no driver was needed, HELP!!
I have tried everything even installing win2000 on top of its self, still no joy
I am using a usb keyboard & mouse at the moment but I would rather have the usb ports free & my ps2 ports working again!!
Any help what so ever is very much appreciated

You should be able to use ps/2 and usb keyboards and mouses at the sametime (atleast mouses, not sure about keyboards). So if you got USB ones working, don't remove those.
Remove the ps/2 drivers, shutdown computer and unplug the ps/2 mouse/keyboard. Never unplug ps/2 ports while powered - you may break your ps/2 ports; ps/2 is not hotswappable like usb is. I've seen few motherboards with broken ps/2 controller chips due this..
Restart computer and see if the ps/2 drivers/devices are gone. If they showup as question marks, update keyboard drivers with standard Microsoft driver. Shutdown and plug the keyboard/mouse. See what happens.
Try to install both separatly and not at the same time. Less you install at once go, less can go wrong.

thanks for the good advice! but i have tryed this meny different times & menny different ways
at the boot the ps2 connected keyboard is working fine & in my winxp dule boot thats on the same computer, but if i boot in to the win2000 boot the keyboard will lock up at about 30% of windows loading up, numlock light wont turn off & the capz lock wont come on, nothing!
