Alright, i feel like an absolute moron asking this question considering i've been doing this for so long now, but, i don't know the answer, so i'm asking anyway. :hihi: Does anybody know if an FXB or FXP file made for a windows vst be loaded by the same plug on a mac if it runs under vst?

thanx!

i know it can be theoretically speaking

but i keep my exposure to mac's to a minimum - i'm still trying to resist my logic lust
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Interesting.

Yeah, i'm completely PC based....and the only mac I have access to is the one at the studio, but it's running pro-tools HD....and i don't think they'd ever let a vst on that system. :hihi:

Hang on a sec, and I'll check...any VST in particular?
There are rocketships outside of my window. Really: www.cosmo.org

I was sure of the answer...and I have just confirmed it. I made a patch on my PC, saved it as an .fxp and then opened it on my Mac. No problem.

It's going to be dependent on the VST and the host, actually.

There are two ways to manage fxb/fxp data: either let the host do it based on what the plugin exposes to VST automation, or custom code in the plugin.

In the first case, one hopes that cross-platform host developers make it compatible. In the second case, one hopes that cross-platform plugin developers make it compatible. However, the naive implementation isn't compatible.

Don't do it my way.

experience tells if supported by the vst(i) you still will be dealing with the big little endian problem. just flip the words (byte wise) and it will work.

aaaah, thank you so much scott! Ok then, i just wanted to know. Figure maybe i'll download stuff it expander and give an option of downloading the banks on my site in SIT archives for mac users when applicable. Cubase is cross platform no? So if I make an fxb for a cubse only instrument, or an instrument that is cross platform, then it should work.

Peace!
