Now, before you all start on me I have used the search function and could not see this specific question but, when I put in "Latency recording" quite a few "hits" did come up - so I may have missed something!

I am using an EMU 0404 card and CUBASIS 5 VST (I am but a poor man!) - but I think this is happening in all my applications (ACID, FLStudtio etc.) - when play live midi instruments (VSTIs etc.) thru my midi keyboard there appears to be no latency at all. I am using a Pentium 4 3.0GHZ (HT) with 512 DDR ram (low latency) and the synths play fine on a latency setting of 2ms. But when I play back the timing is all over the place!
So -
Obviously this is not down to me as my timing may not be perfect but its not bad!
My theories are
a) I have quantise switch on in Cubasis....could this be something to do with it?
b) Or is it to do with monitoring the synths thru the software or thru instrument itself
c) It seems more pronounced on the bigger synths (proteus x , DR008 etc.) do i not have enough ram?

suggestions please - keep them polite and clean. :D

This must be delay introduced by your VSTs & VSTis into the mix, which are not automatically compensated for by your host. This is a feature called 'automatic plug-in delay compensation' that not all hosts have.
