See, tht's just lazy. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion of course, but, maybe you could offer some reasons on why you think they were "terrible"?
They wrote cuntishly terrible songs and performed them like a bunch of no-talent c**ts...... I've never met anyone, let alone a musician, who admitted to liking them.
Actually, I liked the one liner more.

BTW, I'm a musician. Have been since about 1977, when my mom bought my first drum kit. And the drummer, at least, of the aforementioned defunct act was very good by any reasonable standard for rock drumming:

Solid, not too heavy on the cymbals; heavy on the snare in the right way; consistent as to tempo and dynamics; very fast but rarely needlessly flashy; good at listening to other musicians and interacting with them, which is less about fills than about finding and establishing the feel of a song.

If your drummer is better, I'd like to hear him.

:) Like the Rats alot - and hoi can be fockin Hangry too when I want!

Read Bobs Biog and IIRC charity work killed the Rats playing live - people shoving fivers into their hands at gigs etc. The crowd was going to support the charity work - not listen to the band!

Comom, Pete Briquette is a cool name for a band member - beats Izzy Stradlin!

:hihi:

you don't like it when people have an opinion other than yours do you?

I suppose I meant that none of the music stood out enough to make me investigate it, i.e no radio airplay when I was a lad and no bugger saying 'you've gotta listen to this'...unlike many other 'greats' that were before my time (that I do listen to)

Stop cheekng your elders and get back to your classical studies. That dissertation on Billy Idol is overdue.

I liked them, and thought 'Tonic' was a great album. Still think some of their stuff has worn a lot better than some of their peers...

Yes. Fair comment. They wrote a lot of good tunes, and were a great live act, but admittedly, they were a band of their time. (And Geldof would be first to admit that)

Aside from I.D.L.M., I wouldn't expect anyone to know another Rats tune, however, I aint here telling anyone that this band were the greatest band in history, I was, merely, offering up some overdue credit for Bob.

Oh, and can I suggest that the idiot who went off on one at the very thought of this 'misguided respect', throws his own personal musical achievments into the mix, pits them against Bob's, goes green, then red, then relents, and sends a cheque for £500 immediately, FAO The Big Cheese, Band Aid fund, Surrey.
