If for any reason, I would suggest you get one of the sample/soft sampler bundles from EastWest, etc. which bundles a limited-version Kompakt for about $100. If you like it, you can still upgrade to the full version on the NI website.

Thanks, aerdt. I already have several libraries that use Kompakt Players, so I am eligible for the upgrade to the full Kompakt fot $129.

I already have VSampler and (thank God) sfz+ (beta with giga support). But I am picking up Project 6 in Kompakt format and I dread the idea of trying to get it work right in VSampler.

In addition, I will probably never use the sample editing features of Kontakt, its just not my thing.

So, to have native support for Kontakt files (in particular Project 6, but perhaps others) along with the included library, it seems like a pretty good purchase to me for $129 (or maybe a little less second hand).

Are the prices for all the different types of upgrades up yet?

It really depends on what you want/need. I like pretty much all samplers, but I am somehow very against NI when it comes to sampling. Not only because their products simply became too overpriced with a very weird set of upgrade policies and pricings, but because the sound quality of their samplers is simply not that great compared to other (much more reasonable) products out there.

Why? Because everything that carries the NI tag on it, is purely based on Reaktor. Same filters, same modulation, same LFOs, same pitch-bending, same everything - just in a slightly different package with a different GUI and presets.

If anything, I would get Reaktor and with a little patience, experimenting (which is fun!) and creativity you got it all.

Only from Kontact 1.x

Update from KONTAKT 1 to KONTAKT 2:
Registered users of KONTAKT 1.x will be able to update to KONTAKT 2 for 149.- Euro/ 169.- US-Dollar (including the huge sample library).
