LOL @ Sickle :D .

I still think everything post Downward Spiral sucks donkey balls and everything pre Downward Spiral was a million times better .
That album title was always rather prophetic to me as it really was the beginning of his creative "downward spiral" ......
As much as I dislike act's like Marylin Manson I must say I find Manson's production work a squillion times better and his song writing shits over Reznors IMHO.
Both are excellent LIVE ACTS though I must confess.

Oh and to John V. Yes that is the way studio life is. It may seem strange but in a room full of egos (artistic and technically driven) somebody needs to take charge, usually moreso than in a non art based enviroment.

Back on topic...It is, as I said, a decent read. Perhaps it is inspiring or makes the world less scary to read of giants doing the same as regular folks. The guy cant even slice a drumtrack... Thats relieving...

Back off topic...The reporter may seem to have thier head up the downward spiral, but thats sales... Is the article to educate or to help sell this new product. It may be one little article, but before this I wasnt aware that Trent Rezonator was still alive

Fair enough... and just for the record I also work in an art based and VERY ego driven environment.

Quite an interesting read, though its hard to follow the interviewer with his amazement about Trents abilities since, from a technical point of view, nothing in drums, keyboards, guitars or bass ever on one of the NIN albums is something extraordinary. Its good handwork, talented, (mostly) original, well-structured and well-produced, but not amazing in timing, speed, groove, or feel IMO.

But the statements about the inflation of music due to production are hypocritical - "now everyone can do the same i did without the record companies so lets bash them before they start" - sounds like he is fatigued...

Cheers, Richard

I like NiN A lot - think Trent is very talented. I thought the article was f**king amateurish.

For me, Reznor & NIN rule!
I dig all of the records he's been involved in so far, each one is different... & I guess each one has both it's merits & it's downers!

And, at the end of the day, who really cares if an interviewer is a fuckwit/kiss-ass or whatever... as long as they glean some content that is interesting, informative or useful in some way? Right?

 8)

Personal attacks on NIN :? Why do you bother? Reznor's my hero, and the person I most respect in this world.

Not to be outdone.
