In the filterscapeva demo version, the oscillator drop down offers a short list of different wave types. Is this the same on the purchase version? Or does this offer more osc types? Thanks

Try the Warp parameter on each of them.

It's like having tons of waveforms. The Waveform drop down just lets you select the "style" of warpability.

Here's my reply from the same question on page 8 :

As dreammaka wrote, check out the Warp parameter!

"V Analog" for instance offers 5 different waveforms, i.e. Sawtooth at 50%, Triangle at 75% and Sine at 100% Warp.

The other waveforms warp from subtle to extreme. Some dub Wavetables, some dub Waveform Symmetry and the last one dubs FM feedback.

And then there's Phase and Inversion: Set "V Analog" at a Warp of 50% (Sawtooth), set Inverse to 50%. Now you have a Square Wave. Now modulate Phase and you have PWM.

The dope factor with this scheme is, you can use that PWM style effect on *any* waveform.

Well, VA was planned to be a simple Virtual Analog. But it became quite a little but more than that ;)

Ah... Stefan, thanks, you beat me to it ;)

Ta - but that doesn't (directly) answer my question. In fact, if anything, it was because of the effects of these controls on the source waves that I asked the question in the first place (i.e. yet more "styles"). Never mind, though, I can infer from the responses that that demo drop down contains all the waves on offer in the full release...

Ah, okay, sorry...

Well, this stuff was developed back in December, short before the Mac release of VA. I'm gonna work on this a little more, i.e. for inclusion in Zebra2, so I have no doubt that some more models, wavetables, whatsoever will come up with an update to Filterscape - I consider the underlying technique pretty dope. I've had it in the back of my mind for almost two years now, and VA is basically proof of concept. There are a lot of additional options beyond that Warp stuff to explore, we'll see what else comes up :)

;) Urs

This is a very smart plug, and it sounds great.

I found myself looking for a global octave keyshift; is there one? With only +/- two octaves on the OSC freq, we have to move the FM operator down an octave to get some of the more useful modulator freq ratios. But having done so, only the upper two octaves of the keyboard are useful and the "sweet spot" is out of range.

Yeah, there isn't any actually. But it's been a frequently requested feature (global tuning) that I'll add with an update, probably in late April.

Thanks man! - But make sure to read the manual anyway (download section at www.filterscape.com ) because it might unveil some otherwise "hidden" features... i.e. have you ever right-clicked the EQ section?

Cheers,

;) Urs
