Six grand my friends, six grand...what makes any guitar worth that? Don't tell me it's the wood, the pick-ups, the neck or electronics. My half-brother bought the Jimmy Page signature model about 8 years ago (though probably a different model) he also bought his then young son an Epiphone Les Paul. My half brother is total Gibson, nothing else and he is quite arrogant about it. Yet he said he could not feel the difference in the neck, the Epiphone had a slim taper neck too. The pick-ups? Nothing special. But wait!!! Push pull pots, well I just changed all the electronics (except pick-ups) in my Warmoth. The standrad pots were $3.50, push pull was 3 dollars more I didn't see several thousand pots on the guitar so that can't be it. Oh wait it is a AAA top, but then if you care about that then the worst thing you could do is play it...what if you scratch it?

6 grand for maybe 500 dollars worth of guitar, basically 5500 dollars for the name...

Sorry I just do not see any guitar being worth 6k, worse I have never paid more then 500 bux for a guitar (though with replacing parts the total could be more)...this just gets me though..even if page brought it to my house, set it up, autgraphed it, treated me to dinner and a concert I still wouldn't pay 6k... :hihi:

heh heh...look at the date it is expected in stock, that says it all...:hihi:

Even better look at the price crossed off, we're actually getting it for 33% off.

$6K for this model? No. But if it had a honeyburst finish? ...

yeah- I agree with you, gibson is WAY overpriced. but you have to figure that labor, r&d and marketing add to the cost as well. But I agree wholeheartedly, its retarted how expensive guitars are...

Spoiled guitarists... I'd be awfully lucky to find a great violin for 6k. Mine's a POS, and it cost $1000.

I have a cheap Korean made Epiphone Les Paul Copy (the ones you see in your favorite oversized music store when you first walk in for $300 and they have rows and rows of them in all different colors usually right next to the $99 squires) and I think it does just fine for home recording. :D

It's good that they have lots of colors. I bought my 2nd hand and it's black :(. But I did choose my Yamaha APX in a color that goes well with the colors in my living room :D

Found one slightly cheaper for you!!!!!!!!
If somebody's going to pay it..that's what its worth. That's what the antique and car market relies upon. :troll:

Epiphone is just fine for me.
It's the same company.
Just upgrade the pickups and switch and you have the same thing.

Gibsons haven't been decent for ages. They made a few decent Les Pauls in the 50's, but that's about it. There is nothing on those guitars that is even remotely worth that price, and the tops are shit for the price.

Head over the www.edromanguitars.com and take a look at the tops on some Jaros, Jet, Gledura and Quicksilver guitars. Now THAT'S a fuckin' top! In addition, Ed's guitars are much more playable and cheaper in most cases if you equip them the same as the guitar you are comparing them to.

At $6,000 you expect something really amazing, and Gibson just doesn't deliver. For $1,000 at Ed's shop you could walk away with a guitar that eats Gibsons for breakfast.

Still, nothing is as bad as PRS's $25,000 dragon guitar which is basicially a $2,500 guitar with a dragon inlay. The best part of the story, is that they don't even do the dragon inlay in house, they have a contractor who does it!

At most that inlay sets them back a few hundred, but they are charging $22,500 extra for it. I guess the rich idiot who buys it gets what they deserve...
Excuse all the blood.

I'm still ticked off at Gibson for screwing up Oberheim. Grr.

My friend has a few Gibsons and the other day he dropped his 70's Gibson SG before a gig and broke the neck......he fell down and almost cried.

The gibson hollows I have played are nice, and very playable, but not worth 2500...
