A quick question to which I didn't find answer in my quick browsing through the manual. I'm at work now and my documentation is at home.

I have a project set on 16bit and a bunch of frozen tracks. Now I want to export the mixdown at 24bit resolution.

Do I have to unfreeze all the tracks? Or Cubase will be polite enough to export everything from scratch?

And... yeah... sx2 :(

Thanx in advance.

The project bit depth only applies to recorded audio. Freezing is always done at 32 bits. All Cubase projects can can tracks of any bit depth, and a Cubase project can have several tracks at different bit depths, existing simultaneously. You can even have a track with several files of different bit depths on the same track.

So to answer your questions: No, you don't have to unfreeze your tracks, and no, Cubase won't refreeze them from scratch.

It's all good. :)

Forever,

Kim.
