With the great 'buy one get one free' deal on SampleTank 2 & Amplitube I was wondering how people are using Amplitube with ST and SS2?

Are there any good tips or tricks anybody is using?

I'll be ordering the ST2 XL Upgrade today and I should be able to get the SS2 crossgrade in about a week. I love the Sonik Capsules Group Buy, and I can't wait to get my hands more :hyper:

I've got both ST2XL and SS2, recently crossgraded from SS2 to ST2XL and got the free amplitube-deal. I haven't used amplitube with either of them yet though. But I have used it extensively with my Variax and Blade, and like it so far...

r_harms, what host do you use?

I don't have Amplitube, , but if I did, I could load an instance of SS2 in Sonar. I'd load a nice electric guitar voice ,and put Amplitube in the audio FX bin. I could do screaming lead guitar parts playing a keyboard instead of a guitar.

Or,,, I could use Amplitubes amp simulators to play any SS2 sound through a particular amp.

Most probably what I would do, is use SS2 as a sound source for my midi parts. Then put Amplitube in the FX bin of an audio track, and capture one of my guitar playing buddies playing an inspired track with Amplitube.

I use mainly Cubase 3.0 SX. I need to build some templates now that I will have ST 2.0 XL soon. I just ordered ST a few minutes ago. Keep an eye out for some e-pointz :hyper:

I know. I saw your post about missing it by a month :tantrum: I feel your pain!

Sounds like good advice to use AmpliTube for guitar parts. I wish I would have thought of it! How do you think the stomps would work on traditional keyboard sounds like Rhodes and Wurly's? What kind of Amplitube fx could/would be used for prog rock synth parts?

I've know I've got alot to learn! Thanks for the help.

Jeez,

Thanks so much for the link, great song! You also reminded me to check out the SR Demo Thread. I was reading the thread on a CPU with no audio. I look forward to hearing your music, the reviews were great!

Thanks for showing me what is possible.

Thanks so much r_harms! I can affirm the epointz are working as Robert said. I recieved the email, too.

Luckily, I've gotten in on some other cool deals, so it all balances out. :)

Your ideas about using these effects are good ones. I'd say, pick a sound, and season to taste. There are a lot of great progressive rock possibilities. I love the Capsules, too. They go deep into each of those instruments. What you have coming is more of the same quality, but a much broader range of instruments. Your right to be excited. I am still excited about my stuff, and I've had it long enough for the newness to wear off. ENJOY!

You got the Capsule Group Buy? Good move. That was a killer deal. I don't know if it is still available (maybe a few days left on www.esoundz.com ) but that was one of the best deals we've done. It might even be better than the original Sonic Synth 1 group buy we did but that one had more takers for whatever reason. Still, both GBs were considered a success.

Anyway, IMO, a secret weapon combo is the Electric Guitar Capsule and AmpliTube! This can be used with both SampleTank but also any OTHER sampler you may have now or in the future. If you are using AmpliTube separately for processing then you have flexibility to run those samples from any sampler into it. You can also do some creative things using some of the effects of SampleTank 2 first and then using the amp section of AmpliTube after.

Yeah, this buy one get one free deal is also pretty serious. We've sold more AmpliTube 1 and SampleTank 2s on www.esoundz.com than we have before because it is just too good. Especially if you consider that the FREE AmpliTube 1 you get even qualifies for a discounted upgrade to AmpliTube 2 (and is different than AT2 so it is nice to actually have both in fact- this is confirmed because I already have both... sorry ;) and they really ARE very different but in a good way).

You guys should tell all your friends about that deal before it runs out. There's still another month on it but I think this is a really good one, especially if you don't have ST2 yet and you may not even be a guitar player so might not have gotten AmpliTube perhaps. Would you want it for FREE??? It was $399!!! It's really good even to use on other instruments besides guitars.

Anyway, if you mention it to your friends then we appreciate it if you tell them to get it on www.esoundz.com (listen to me getting all sales pitchy on ya! ) Seriously though, don't forget to tell them to mention YOUR name on the order because they get $5 in epointz credits and so do you so... considering that can soon be applied to downloadable sounds as well you might want to rack up some of those! Why not?

Hey, every once in a while I need to give a little pep talk on that stuff. ;)

Yes, I jumped at the Capsules Group Buy. I would have loved to get in on the Tron collection, but I was in a state of near-financial-ruin.

What does esoundz.com have Tron wise that would compliment ST2 XL and Sonik Synth 2? I'm a prog rock freak and don't think I could ever have to many Trons.

I'll have to look up the 'Genesis' thread. I know you talked about certain classic efx on vintage gear. Do you have any favorite Amplitube combos that work well in a vintage/prog rock kind of way?

Yes but would they sound real enough? As far as my experience goes it doesn't come close enough to a real axe. It's sounds good but any guitar player could tell it's fake in a nanosecond!

You would have loved Squids' Tron Collection. Unfortunately it was only available as a group buy a few months ago. :( There is a chance of doing a Volume 2 group buy later on, but in the meantime there's Mellozone.

I have not used the FX in ST2 or SS2 very much other than what's in the presets. The eq reverb and delay I understand but I can't seem to get my head around the compressor and channel strip - because when I insert and activate then I find they are less than subtle - the off-the-wall FX I usually avoid altogether. Is there a tutorial on using these?

My earlier years of experience with effects is practically nonexistant since I mostly played guitar straight in with a two channel pignose AMP for overdrive. I do have a VAMP-2 but still have no clue programming the effects outside using the presets and the sounds are only mediocre. :help:

So can anyone tell me how I can learn how to use ST2 and SS2 Effects? Since random tweaking doesn't do it for me and there are too many variables to consider in these plugins, including Amplitube.

Hey, Beardedone

Have you tried TweakHeadz Lab? Here is his article on compressors: http://www.tweakheadz.com/compressors.htm

I learned some good tricks from TweakHeadz. The site has lots of advice on recording in general and overviews for working with most audio tools.

If I remember correctly (Usualy Not!) Sound On Sound had some good article online.

Good Luck!
