I use a powercore firewire and have been through two totally different computers since I purchased it. The powercore plugins have yet to complete an entire session in Nuendo or Ableton Live without crashing.
The error message always reads "the process synchronization between the plugin and powercore drivers has failed". I always use the most recent drivers (currently at v1.9).
From the information on TC electronic site, apparently no one else has any real problems with their powercore, and since it is not a user forum, how would one really know if anyone else has major powercore problems?
If their exists any powercore users on the KVR forums could you let me know what you think about these problems? Perhaps I have a bad unit or perhaps I need an exorcist.
----------------------------
current system:
Pentium 4 3ghz hyper
MSI Neo2-P865pe mobo
2gb RAM [corsair twin-x dual channel (4sticks)]
2 Western Digital hard drives (80gb & 120gb)
nVidia geforce 4 8x 128mb
steinberg VSL20/20 soundcard
old system (same crashes):
Pentium 4 2.6ghz
MSI md5000 mobo
500mb RAM
seagate 120gb hd
same video card
RME Hammerfall HDSP 96/52 soundcard

try this site - http://www.powercore.noheaven.com/ - a good forum on the poco - used tog et visited by a tc empoyee but he works elsewhere now
a few people do have problems with the firewire - the exact specifics evade me as i have a pci but the choice of firewire chipset has defintely been mentioned

I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Oh yea anouther quick question, what latencies do you often find yourself set too? as we found powercore seems to like 512-1024...nothing more....(else you have errors during export) nothing less....else you get crazy crashes.

I used to have p-core latency set to what you suggested, but then read on TC electronic support forum that a lower latency is recommended for running powercore in ableton live. I should set it back to a bigger buffer.
I think most of my problem comes from trying to run powercore in ableton live in the first place.
I appreciate the advice and empathy from you guys; doesn't sound like I should fear my unit itself is broken.
BTW thanks for the url to the other powercore forum; I'm bookmarking it!
Thanks
