What Does Sony 'Vegas' have that Acid 5 doesn't Have ???

for those of you that use Vegas for audio, i'm having a little difficulty grasping what the benefits
are over using acid, what exactly do you like about Vegas?...and I'm completely omitting it's 'video' features cause I don't do any video whatsoever, but for audio only I'd love to get some of you good peoples insight.

I use Vegas (for video editing and voice-over recording) and, to tell the truth, I wouldn't know where to start comparing as those are two completely different programs for completely different purpose.

In short....Acid is a audio program with a few video support pieces thrown in...but in no way should be considered a video editing package. Vegas is a video editing package with a few audio editing pieces but shouldnt be considered an audio creation pacakge.

And I thought I replied there's nothing comparable in both programs. It's like asking the difference between a car and a boat.
Vegas doesn't do midi, doesn't load VST's or VSTI's, but can hold a multiple of audio clip on the same track and crossfade autmomaticaly between them, while Acid is one clip/one track and although the version 5 of Vegas can read Acid info somewhat on a sound file it's support is nowhere near as complete as Acid. Vegas as no tempo map, it's a timebased tool, not a beat/bars/tick tool, limiting it's use somewhat as a DAW, and it wasn't thought out as a DAW, It's an NLE with DAW like feature.

Vegas is less loop-oriented. I'm not sure, but the audio tracks may all be direct-from-disk, rather than ram-based loops. The intention would be to do less loop-based recording, and more lengthy track recording.

One very cool thing in Vegas which is missing in Acid is the timestretching. In Vegas, you can grab and drag the end of an audio track, and interactively stretch or shrink the duration in a way which Acid does not allow.

Truthfully, these two programs could easily be combined into one, but that would be bad for business...

To add on what everyone has told you already, Audition v1.5 can do the same things that Acid Pro. Vegas, & Soundforge can do combine!

Audition is a great tool, but that statement is not quite right. Audition doesn't do midi anymore than Vegas does as opposed to Acid, and you can't edit video in it. Adobe answer to NLE is Premiere, a major pain if you ask me, but I agree that Audition, on the whole, is probably more versatile than any of the other three taken singly.

does audition have the beat slicing features of acid, I'm a samplist and the sample editing, slicing, and mangling is what i'm most interested in. the thing I like most about acid that I know of so far is its ability to change the key of samples, can adobe audition do that?

also i thought that there was two versions of vegas, one for video and one for audio,, is that incorrect?
