Hi Paul

Thanks very much for your encouraging words. It still needs a lot of work, but I'm quite pleased with it so far.

One thing I am noticing is that my sound cards' latency (Audigy) make it's hard to keep the guitar in time. If I try to correct it by editing the midi, it can loose the "feel". It also means lots of work to correct drum parts.

It's no good, I'll have to get a better card soon.

What drivers are you using Alan?
Nobody's a nobody...

ASIO4ALL. I'm getting about 9ms.

Hmmm
9ms should be good...
Strange.

Great groove, nice slow blues. I love it.

Although even here the guitars sound artificial as soon as you use the pitch bend. So far I haven't managed to get the MS guitars to sound natural enough in a blues song, so I'm *just* using my Les Paul for that. ;). They sound great for most other purposes.

The problem that I have is that if you use the pitch bend to bend the note up by two semi tones (as you would on a guitar), you can't then give it vibrato, as you normally would when playing guitar.

Changing the pich bend to (say) 3 or 4 notes makes it harder to control.

In the "Soundsets - Velocity Layered" thread above I asked griels about the possibility of using the mod wheel for vibrato or tremelo. Does anyone know if it's easy to do this?

BTW HansM - I thought your cello stuff was great, and I can't get "It's Clear Now" out of my head!

tyvm Alan. I really love the Manystation flanged guitar :) (or maybe chorused, or whatever) ;)

Use the mod matrix? Connect the mod wheel (CC 1) to either the volume property or to the 'all O and W fine', or whatever it's called...

but griels also did some formant editing to make it sound more real, if I remember correctly...

Yes ... griels' trick was for making the pitchbend a bit more realistic.
And its not just ManyStation Guitars that are tough to make sound real on certain things .... It's pretty much all sampled Guitars.... But we are trying to do things we can to make it all the more realistic. I think most will agree though, that the guitars in ManyStation are some High Quality playing and sounding Sets. And they are only a start as to where we can try to take it!

Alan ... check out Tims guitars in the TC Bank... they use the Mod wheel in a cool way to modulate the note .. I think it works a treat.

Thanks HansM

I've just had my first go at using the Mod Matrix. I've been so busy playing with MS/WS that I've been a bit lazy about reading the manual.

I've done what you suggested, and the sound is coming along nicely. If only I had a joystick instead of a wheel!

The next thing is - can I simulate feedback? What do you think? Use buckets of reverb?

Again Alan
Check the TC preset Feedbacker with the Mod wheel
:-)

I get lost in a few of those Mod wheel presets!

yes. You have the best guitars :) ! And for many things they are great samples, for spanish/flamenco style, several rock styles, pop songs... It's just silly that Alan and I want to use them for blues :D ;)

Hehe
Actually I plan on doing a cool Blues patch on one of the future ManyMores... You know the old E A D Typical Blues 5th 6th 7th Jam thingy :-) It will be mapped cool on the Keyboard :-) But i have to experiment a bit with this ..as again ..It is tough to get realistic... But i am nearly there.

Anyway me Love the Blues and we got some idears a comin'

Including the Old 1970 Les Paul Custom that will be Heavily Sampled sometime in the future :-)
