Hi!
I need a program or a plugin that can extract the bass guitar from a final mix (we are talking heavy metal music here) and put it on a separate track, so I could listen only to it without the resto of the instruments & vocals. I tried Adobe Audition's Center Channel Extractor, but it din't do the job for me.
Is there such a thing?
Thanks guys!
Bass guitar isolation

Hi Nalbantov,
I'm the_gorer from forum.muzikant.org (I suppose you've already guessed
)
I'm interested in the "almost" part.

The problem is (especialy if anything was run through effects) that there is a HUGE crossover range between bass and other instruments. Check out this thread for some more specifics...and remember that those frequency ranges usualy grow once effects are put on them.

The only real way to isolate an instrument like you want is to eq out everything else...but since there is soo much xover with other things that is a next to impossable thing to do...your best bet is to re-record it...or if you want to isolate it to use for learning or whatever just eq out everything else you can and unfortunatly deal with the rest of the noise on the track

I already EQ-ed out the rest of the frequencies and boosted up the bass guitar ones only.
It kinda sucked, because the bass drum resides on the same frequencies. You're right - things are too corssed over.
Seems that I need a thing that can isolate sounds from the mix in real time. Preferably by moving a slider or something, so I could find the best spot at which the bass is most audiable. That would be easier than working with the 30 different sliders of the multi band Equalizer.
