HI

I booted up my PC and headed over to KVR for my usual daily foray to see what's new and thought I would have a look at what is happening with T2 but as per normal (of late) it's a pretty dead forum.

I have been dissapointed with several developers recently - you know, they advertise a product PREMATURELY and then go quiet when anyone asks what the ETA/SITUATION is!

One of the worst offenders has been AMG/Muon with their forthcoming sample/chopper beat mangler thingy - I can't for the life of me understand why companies don't have a marketing/R&D strategy when it comes to this stuff?

Then you have the year long development of the Minimoog thingy - are these people trying to upset someone?

The list goes on with programs like Devine Machine/GURU - again they show screen shots then bugger off for like 4 months with not a word!!!

I have to put my hands up and say that for all the woes they have caused in the past, Native Instruments seem to have got there act together and appear to be putting out information on products 'soon' to be released only when it appears that the product is a few weeks away from actually being FINISHED.

I thought the support forums were about communication - looking at TRACKTION 2 I really wonder why there appear to be some genuinely distressed CUSTOMERS when surely, if nothing else the developer or whoever could at least let people know the state of play - but all that appears to go on is countless 'HYPOTHETICAL' threads and posts about 'what might be'!

I don't personally care if it takes a dev 2 years to produce a piece of software but don't stuff screenshots in our faces and tell us 'SOON BABY' and then go quiet for the next six months - where is the integrity in that or perhaps I assume that other people have basic social skills in the area of communication that perhaps I take for granted?

I am certainly pissed because I can not see any advantage in 'TEASING' your prospective customers with false or misleading information on a product that does not exist or is bogged down with snail paced development - I do respect developers like urs/Filterscape who dont make a fuss and simply turn up with a product out of (almost) nowhere - there you go try that, NOT "here it is, sorry we advertised it a year ago" :-o .

I have to say that I have invested in most of the products that I have described above and certainly in the case of AMG they have made a statement concerning their products - nevertheless I still think far too many companies 'JUMP THE GUN' with new product anouncements that end up taking ages to become available and really should just hold out until things are practically at bata or at the least give people a realistic idea of what is taking place with development - via forums or E-Mail.

I don't think I could have said it better.

erm, dude, nice, friendly dude..

the fact that you're all pent up about these stupid premature "i am a giant prostitute" announcements indicates that they obviously bloody work.

you can go around saying how cool you are with the nonassuming urs, but the fact is you'd dismiss stupid shit from morons as such if you weren't all hopped up on "ooh ooh ooh when can i buy a shiny dildo"

disgusting species.

What these folks are doing IS marketing... getting you to commit psychologically to a product before you can own it. That's the whole point. Company X is hoping you will mentally and emotionally commit to their gizmo in advance. That way you'll wait patiently until it hits the market. And because of your mental/emotional investment, you won't in the meantime go out and buy, learn and fall in love with the gizmo from Company Y. Pretty clever, eh?! Gotta love the way we have all learned to manipulate each other into submission.

Post

and once you love it, then you gotta learn to despise it with every morsel of your being, or we've f**ked ourselves down the river for eternity as a species.

but don't think about that, just stick your fucknig music dick in, blokes, ecause we need more fat asses twattlnig away going bleep.

HI

But why did he have to pick on my thread?

I don't necessarily agree with the marketing stuff - I mean no matter which way you put it I prefer sequencer X irrelative of the marketing bull - I agree that once you are partial to a particular brand you might be manipulated though - I currently still invest heavilly with IMPERIAL TOBACCO.

to be fair ... beno has now AT LEAST twice openly stated in the raw material software forum the current state of play with T2 ... he cant give a specific release date / upgrade price / demo availability date because (reading between the lines) HES NOT ALLOWED TO ...

... as for the hypothectical or 'what might be' threads ... maybe read some of them in a different way ... PERHAPS there are some beta testers trying to sneakily reassure or inform potential T2 customers about bugsquashing or features respectively without OPENLY breaking their NDA ...

I am not a distressed customer [in this context]and never have been.I work stuff out and I make mistakes.I make the best with what I've got.I am in the day ,and not waiting for stuff that might be around the corner."distressed customer"....what a load of crap.

I concur with mr. complainy, flipper. You're basically saying 'Hey Mr. Pusherman, why you gotta dangle that rock in front of me. Can't you see I'm weak."

If you want to make music, and you'd like to use a specific tool to do so, then get it. But don't let them lead you to believe that their new formula was what you really needed all along.

Maybe a dangerous thing to say before their altar, but we don't need them. Nice to have them, and sometimes they come up with something serendipitous for us, but we don't need them.

All this time without Guru, or Drum 9, or Neuron, or Solo Whatever, or the Minimonsta, or T2, have you suffered?
