Hello again professional KVR musicians :) . I've got a piano track down, and while it sounds ok now, I want it to have a bit more presence but without really having to turn the volume or anything up so loud. I was wondering if Eq'ing could help out a bit. Could anybody give me any good starters on how to EQ a piano to give it a bit more presence, yet be subtle? (I know it's a bit contradicting, but bare with me here) I know I read once that you could boost to give presence presence by boosting in either the 250hz or 2khz range, just not sure on how to go about it. The only thing I ever Eq'd were drums and bass really. Thanks!

rather than boosting anything as your after a naturl sound but with more presence i beleive you may want to try cutting frequencys instead :)
find any other instruments that are present in the mid to high and cut them a little, this should help but id wait for someone who knows more about usin ianos n stuff than me.

Inspector will make any EQ'ing job a bit easier.

The only tip I have is to listen to your fav piano music every once in a while applying the EQ.

thanks! I gotinspector already, helpful little tool. I'll pull it up and perhaps find some tutorials and also listen to some songs with piano in it, see what happens. thanks again though!

In my experience, pianos are very hard to EQ: often there will be little going on in the high sparkly region, so boosting the normal "air" frequencies might have no effect. It always depends very much on the piano recording itself, and the mix it needs to fit into, but you might want to consider using compression / expansion to bring out the attack of the notes a little more, or a brightish reverb to add some "glossiness".

If your piano recording is really dull, try using an enhancer / exciter, but these effects are best used subtly in my experience. If you do use EQ you might find that cutting low-mid frequencies slightly will improve the definition of the sound better than boosting the highs..

I try avoiding boosting myself; there is more to be gained in carefully cutting. Subtle will take you further rather then drastic changes ;)
