Out at Life Cafe in Manchester last night, to see a friend of friends band. They were supported by three other unsigned bands, and, as I find a lot of the time, the very first band on were the best.(They were called 'Nephew') Anyway, to cut a long story short (I Lost my mind, etc

)... one of their tracks featured a bloody gorgeous - yet simple verse counter melody played with a real violin. Couldn't get that outta my head, and asked the guys if they had any CD's. In typical disorganised scally style they said, no ...but the track was "somewhere on the net". So, today I have been trying to track it down. found it. But .... its a bloody nightmare to DL. It buffers in stops n starts, and even when its finally loaded, there seems no way to save it?? So, anyone got any ideas on how to capture this tune once and for all?

The track is 'Tell Me Why' and its the 4th song down here.

Sorry man, sounds like illegal on this Prison planet. The mob definately needs it's cut.

...Why do you not contact the band via email? I'm sure they can help you out where to get the vinyl/tape/CD/DVD!

Yea there are ways to rip streams etc but it is illegal. (google is ur friend)

If ur that desperate just record the wave out of ur soundcard back into somethin like wavelab etc.

Dont wish to get into any daft piracy debate here. I'm a working musician myself, I know the score. Spoke to the band, their own site - on which they host a few demo's for DL - is currently being revamped - they are unsigned, have no product to sell at gigs, and are were quite happy for me to pull the song off that site. Just tryin to work out how.

There's something wrong with some of the downloads on the site (A Boy called Doris <<<< great name).
If you can get any of the streaming formats to work use something like this
http://www.silent-bob.de
to save the audio coming out of your soundcard.

(you need to read the instructions on saving wav as its far from intuitive)

Yeah, seems like a solution. Cannot find any instructions anywhere though?

Need to rip a song from a site - help!
