Hydratone PC?

I really can't say that I know much about EQs - so far I always sticked to the ones laying around in my VST folder, which basically means Freeware and translates into pretty average mixes.
But boy am I going to buy Hydratone! It's nothing short of amazing how it can bring the source material up front - and all sounds very natural - nothing queeky about it. Plus I couldn't disagree more about the Fire parameter - it's simply stunning.
When is the PC group buy going to start?
Cheers, Pädy

brianbrian,
I recognised the cheap digital waveshaper sound of the fire knob instantly. Hence I'll stay away from it always. Tricking oneself to think it emulates or sounds like a transformer is just that, a placebo trick. It still sounds bad (IMO).
I didn't have time to check Hydratone latencies yet. How are they, and are the latencies compesated for?

I said its action is lighter at the same settings in the bass, you crazy fellow who knows what I can hear and not.

What!!!???Ocean Zen wrote:Cycling 74 are adding Auto Delay compensation to Pluggos very soon!
Does it mean Hydratone lantency isn't compensated for at all right now?
that's it really. I won't bother with this then.

also, the whole thing of having to install a "runtime" is not very appealing to me.

What is this Pluggo runtime weirdness? I've heard this mentioned but never paid any attention to it before. Why do I have to download an additional 34mb file to run this VST?
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

Has Hydratone API been compared with URS API? If either of these plugs have nailed (and I mean really nailed) the API, then I am sold 80% wont do though.brianbrian wrote:Kingston, what do you think of Fire set at 1? I actually think it sounds pretty good, and I guess setting it at 1 is special in that they set it to simulate the coloration of transformers. It seems to add some nice harmonics and it does something to the phase of the mid and treble frequencies.
I don't see how RenEQ could be compared to Hydratone. Hydratone craps all over the RenEQ at any frequency. Now that they have added the API/ISA modes this EQ feels much better and more complete. I still don't think any other software EQs are on the same level. This sounds better to me than UA's new Precision EQ and in many cases it is a lot better than the PultecPro. Sometimes you need dynamic EQing and GlissEQ is hard to beat for that. For overall EQing of important tracks, I have a feeling I will be using HT almost exclusively.

you need only this, 5mb.
'Why PLUGGO?
Briefly (we will expand when we have more time):
1. It let's us more spend more time focused on sound research and perfecting the tone and less time debugging and worrying about formats.
2. RTAS, AU & VST formats are all covered (see #1)
3. MAX/MSP (the software for designing and building Pluggo's) allows for real-time modification of the code.
This is very, very important! Why? Because it allows us to update and refine our algorithms while listening to the audio result !!!
This means there is no need to code "blind" (using math theory only) THEN compile THEN listen...
This makes our coding fast, responsive & enjoyable. This translates directly to the cool sound of our processors
4. The sound quality of the Pluggo platform is 100% top-notch!
TriTone Digital'
adc will be supported with the next pluggo-release comin in the next days/weeks.
brianbrian is on point with his comments here about hydratone.

it took cycling73 two years of "coming soon" to complete MAX/MSP for PC. I wouldn't count on anything they say.adc will be supported with the next pluggo-release comin in the next days/weeks.
What use is a mixdown EQ with latency that isn't automatically compensated for, no matter how good it sounds like? That's right, f**k all.
Seriously now, show me any serious project that you've managed to work like this and I'll give you a medal (for sheer stubborness).
No matter how the developers will praise the MAX/MSP development, in the case of Tritone digital, it sounds an awful lot like they just need to hire a coder who actually knows what he's doing.
Mac pluggo is already a solid platform (totally invisible to the user), and I can understand the users praising mac Hydratone.

ADC is not supported on Mac or PC at the mo'.
So the Mac & PC versions sound the same i.e. Excellent.

You can manually compensate for Latency, you know.

there is a new pluggo-beta out with adc, salvator(one of the tritone guys) already has it. it fixes also some little known probs with hydratone pc. cycling73 didn't want to implement adc too soon but then the hydratone crowd(users) bombarded them with e-mailsKingston wrote:it took cycling73 two years of "coming soon" to complete MAX/MSP for PC. it's also a problem if you want to mult things.JeffSanders wrote:This latency problem only affects live use, no?
but at the moment it's only something like 30-40 samples and you can compensate for it. and the new pluggo version will fix this, shouldn't take too long, the betas are out.
