I have a Dr. Sample 202, but I would like to have my samples prepared before I record them onto the hardware.
I was wondering if anyone know if anyone could suggest a good program to record, and clean up samples. I can time stretch and beatmatch it with the 202 (sort of) but I'd rather just use it to play back live.
Right now I'm using Garageband, and I find that it doesn't allow me to get in there and truncate the samples quite as well as I want to, and there isn't much I can do to play with it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Preferably something simple. I'm a beginner (obviously or I wouldn't be asking).

You can get Bias Peak LE for under $100 and it has most of the power of the full version, minus some plug-ins and such. But it does most of what you will usually need. I use Audacity also, but Peak LE is a good deal. Look at Sam Ash or somewhere like that. I think they had it for $70 last time I was in there.

I would second Audacity, as it usually does enough for what I need. Another alternative is DSP-Quattro, which I don't have much experience with, but it's supposed to be the definitive Mac audio editor, and IIRC wasn't too expensive either. My favorite program for editing, though, is an old program called SoundMaker, although you'd need to load the Classic environment to use it (I believe it was released for free some time ago).
