Thanks GIRO!

Does anyone know to I translate this to Kontakt format? I have never been successful with this in Dr008 or Kontakt. For example, what is on the Y axis? How do I set up velocity layers? All very confusing even after several years.

I'm trying a Dr008 public beta but it has a lot of features disable and I don't see how it could do layers of samples.. :(

Kontakt 1.5...... what were they thinking??? what a pain in the rear end.. :? It can only import old HAlion formats... I have to build the patches from scrach  :)

I tell you HAlion is THE sampler to go for!!

Thanks GIRO. Can't justify HALion right now. Kontakt does a good job with the libraries I own. But, I don't have clue how to set up samples in Kontakt at all. I admire anyone who can figure these beasts out.

I love the way the kit is mapped to different channels in HALion, so I can put nice gate echo on the snare to get that 80's sound without having to have more than one instance of the kit. Great work!

Kontakt 1.x is completely useless for mapping big velocity layered sets - it needs a decent editor/patch builder where you can layout large groups of samples efficiently. If Kontakt 2 doesn't have something of this kind NI should be tarred and feathered.

Chicken Systems Translator v2.9.5.8 can easily translate halion to battery (.kit) and you could then open in Kontakt.
All you have to do in Kontakt is open mapping editor and delete all drums you dont want and save the remaining drum as individual instrument.
you could then add any effect thru Kontakt or "outboard" FX in your DAW
I dont think there is a better synth for doing complex mappings IMO.

Dragging and dropping them with a mouse on that tiny little display? Surely you jest.

Kontakt needs some smart automapping features like EXS24 has only better - eg it should be able to intelligently spead twenty samples (or whatever you have) over the velocity range.

You'll need to use the Velosampler for that. Right click the pad, choose Velosampler, load up the samples and set the velosities. Not that hard really. Use my patch as a template to figure it out.

This was my first seriuos attempt to map up a kit in DR008 and if I could do it I guess anybody can  although the manual isn't VERY helpful...

Oops, forgot to enable one-shot triggering (is it called that?) so that the sample will play to end when hitting a key or pad. Fixed!

I have had Dr008 for years now and never managed it. Could you please explain what you did?

You seem to have alot of trouble with some softwares.
I wish i could help you..
Really it is easy to map a kit in DR008
Just load a Sample Module and load the samples
If it is multi velocity then set the crossover points
What do i mean?
Look at the kits included..
Look at one of the Multi Sampled kits... Look at the editor page for the Pad.
It is easy to copy Then :-) Or replace with your own samples.
Follow the mapping on a decent GM Midi kit if you are unsure about where the drums go and you are set.
Save your kit with the menu.
I found it explained in the manual i thaught. but it really is easy.. You don't need the Manual. :-)
Hope this helps.

I'll agree with Paul, Gordon.

It really isn't difficult at all when it comes to it. The nice thing about it is that it's pretty much the same method wether it's DR008, Kontakt, Halion, VSampler or any other sampler. So if you find out how in one of them you pretty much know how in all.

I'll see if I can make a basic tutorial to get you going. It might take a few days though (I've got kids of my own  ). I'll PM you when it's ready.
