I'm a dummy with those things... What does it do?

Of course I read the page etc, but I'm not familiar with studio equipment. Is this an all-in-one substitute for GCO/GEQ? or like VoxFormer, specifically aimed at vocal channels? I'd love to buy this, if I would know when/where to use it

yes, it's a channel-plug in concept similar to Voxformer...

(you can use Voxformer for all kinds of tracks (e.g. guitar, bass-guitar) - not just for vocals)

You beat me to the presentation Shifrin

It's a dual processing channel strip with effects made especially for this plugin (no old wine on new bottles here

). This plugin got 10 routings made for instruments and mix setups, it got side chain and mono version etc. The best thing is to try it and you will se it is different from the other plugins mentioned here.

I've read the blurb but then I never understood what Voxformer was about.

Would you use it on tracks or Master. If I don't use vocal do I have a use for this?

The GAC-1 is for all instruments, drums, vocals and mixes. It is not made for mastering though some of the routings made for mixing also might become handy when mastering.

This gizmo has some interesting capabilities:

- dual band compression when the Eqs are used as a crossover - sounds very smooth indeed IMO.
- sidechain compression with sidechain filtering
- serial compression
- very flexible, quick and easy Eq

It will take a while to explore all of these capabilities - there are some novel configurations with differential outputs from the Eqs that might interest a few uber tweakers
