Have you just discovered energyXT, want to try it out but do not know where to start?

If so, this will help. Working with asseca, I have prepared an eXT Beginners' Guide, which aims to get you up and running with energyXT, starting from scratch.

We have set up a web page with the steps to follow. The steps will download and install:
  • asseca's eXTsetup program,
  • the energyXT software,
  • my eXT Commands Guide,
  • my eXT Beginners' Guide and Beginners' Pack (the Pack contains folders for eXT files, some eXT skins and some Chords and Arpeggio presets).
Just go to this link and folllow the instructions.

If you have any questions come back here and ask, there are always some users who are willing to help you . . .

Thanks for putting all this together DarkStar. 8) It's exactly the kind of thing eXT needs to help newbies (and even semi-newbies like myself) get used to what's where and how it works.

I used to play around with trackers, and while some of them are nice the documentation all seemed written for others already in "the scene" and I found it almost impossible to find any good examples and instructions for beginners.

Thankfully, eXT has an active and friendly user base -- not to mention a friendly, hyperactive mad scientist/genius for a developer -- which helps to make it (imho) one of the most interesting and progressive musical apps available.

Great effort!

Hi All,

The download link:
http://www.asseca-pt.net/downloads/install-extsetup.exe

appears to be broken.

Post

I don't understand why this installer and not the eXT HQ winrar downloads. What is the difference?

Post

it's just for convenience, Gordon.
That little piece of software (once set up) will download the latest version of standalone, effect and instrument, then it copies them to the right places in your setup.

When the new betas are coming thick and fast , it can be quite handy/labour-saving :-)

Wow very convenient.

Thanks!

Thanks - I haven't looked at EnergyXT for ages - just kept it updated - it's a great tutorial - EnergyXT is wonderful software. Tracktion2 + EnergyXT much better than that Cubase shit IMHO !

A question regarding the various install paths - do I leave the [square brackets] entries as they are or does this indicate that I need to find out where the "my documents" folders etc are and type this in here?
You Tarzan, me Noob

Hi Noisepolluter,

The square bracket entries as found in [My Documents] defines the standard "My Documents" path of MSWindows and do not need to be changed.

And, there is also the Beginner's Guide to Recording in eXT

Get it here: www.asseca.com/ext.html

Hope it helps

I have been hearing a lot of very good things about eXT recently and want to give it a good play, but I refuse to have my Audio PC (well partition to be pedantic) connected to the internet, and from what you are saying here it sounds like it has to be to download what is needed during installation. Is there any easy way around this? Or am I completely misunderstanding?

Hi kazakore,

You can download sa.zip, energyXT.zip and energyXTE.xip from http://www.xt-hq.com/download.

All the documentation on http://asseca.com/ext.html can be downloaded as seperate zip files.

You will need to copy all the zip files to your Audio PC and install everything manually...

I have a question regarding purchasing the license key for eXT. How long is the key valid? Once the official 1.4 rolls out would I need to re-buy the SW?

Thanks,
Jon
