Does anyone know where I can get a PC equivalent of Wiretap for the Mac, allowing you to internally record any sounds that are playing on your computer? (I'm getting into live jamming between various bits of pre-Rewire standalone audio software and want to record the results)

I found one called Free Audio Recorder from Deepcom.com but something made me suspicious - it all looked too slick. I read the licence agreement for once, and I'm glad I did - it installs various bits of hard-to-remove spyware and malware like WebHancer and BlazeFind on your system. The motto seems to be: Beware of Freebies!

So, is there any Windows freeware out there up to this task that doesn't have a hidden agenda?

Thanks in advance

I think this could be what you're looking for.... not sure about spyware and stuff. I used it in the past and never had a problem

Hope it helps...

Hi TeleJuan, thanks for replying. Maybe I'm missing something but surely this is just a normal audio recorder rather than something that can actually record internal audio streams?

I don't have it installed on my DAW now but I did on my old PC (Audigy 2) and I remember it would record any audio played on my PC as long as I set my sound card to do so...

Audacity works well for this - it can take and record anything coming out of the soundcard. I have a hotkey set to pop it up to record music that sounds interesting when I'm listening to streaming audio.

OK, sorry, my mistake. Thanks to you both! I guess I was going on an earlier Mac version I tried once.
