Really stupid Cubase SE error

I had been making a song for about an hour and then i selected a DirectX plugin that apparently didn't work, instead an error message kept coming up whenever i tried to do something other than playing or stopping the song.
So now i cannot save or anything. Atleast the little "loading" symbol doesn't appear by the cursor, so i assume it doesn't save.
Is there any way to check a system log or check the project file to see if it got saved?
And is there any way to save even though it's "impossible"?
help me out!

I give you a great hug and a smile.
Where (Steinberg folder or where i saved the original file) will it be saved and what will it be called?
And can i find it before shutting down Cubase, to make sure it is there?
And what version do you have?
Again, thank you so much... Perhaps this will save my little experiment!

It's in the same file as the real project.
When this happens to me and I try to re-open the normal project, it gives me a message that says a more recent backup has been saved, do you want to open it instead?
So I say yes and it opens the backup which I then save as the normal .cpr...
hope that helps.
I think my version of SE is 1.07

Ok.
It is not possible to re-open, nothing is possible really (besides playing the song).
Would closing, and then opening Cubase give the same results?

I can't say because that's never happened to me.
Sorry...
edit...I have had cubase freeze a few times where I've had to manually reboot the computer. It has indeed created a backup at those times...maybe that helps you...

That will probably help. I'm not a native english-speaker but reboot is the same as pushing the physical button on the computer to shut it down and then push it again in order to start it up, right?

hmmmm, I guess kinda 80's modern rock along with more recent stuff.
I like older Cure, Radiohead, Stone Roses...guitar based modern stuff.
here's the first song I finished with SE, I posted it a few days ago in the music cafe...

Thanks for your advice!
It worked fine, even though i had to recreate the parts that were affected by that stupid DirectX- plugin. But the results became better then before so i won't complain about that.
Thanks!
