I have to admit, Bones, you have me convinced about the light versions, but the distorion on board is nice, so keep that. GodKillerIII + LFX1310 (completely free setup, BTW) makes for an amazingly flexible and intense rig.
Are you going to use this new genereation in your act now?

ok got it.
big thanks to bones.
this becomes my to go synthedit simply cos it has a decent unison. and to me thats a vital feature.
would be nice if all synthedits had this.
Bones any way to turn the gate off completely?its always active and circling round ....and looks like its using its fair share of resources .
and a bug ( maybe even releated)
play notes at max unision/detune with no portamento and no attack....and u u'll hear.there's something odd going on....notes eating themselfes evry 3-4 played... it might be an envelope problem....(cpu meter and volume meter are fine).

Thats most likely from the EVM unison set up. The unison voices count against your total polyphony, so if youhave 6 voices of unison, you can only play 2 notes before expending your 12 voice total._starcraft_ wrote: and a bug ( maybe even releated)

try turning the unison voices to 3 so you can have one voice above and below your initial pitch and that will give you a few more voices to work with.

@xerocreep
thx that seems to be the problem.
weird cos i was only playin 1 note a time...maybe so fast not to give time to the voices to be "released".
anyway reducing the voices solved it....but it loses in power
@ bones
can't the polyphony be upped to 24 or something?

check the release on the asdr: at higher settings, it can steal notes if played quickly as you describe: it is deceptive if the mod release setting is set so that you don't actually hear anything on the long release.
also, make sure the gate slider is not slightly nudged over on volume or cutoff. Or reduce unison

Since visual stimulation has to do a lot with musical creation, I like Bones' dark synths because they are fit for my music. I hate most synths and their rainbow colors.

The GATE doesn't eat much. If the out of sync lookin glights annoy you, just turn on RETRIGGER. I'm not sure why th elights are like that because the GATE itself works properly._starcraft_ wrote:Bones any way to turn the gate off completely?its always active and circling round ....and looks like its using its fair share of resources.
I know. It seems to bea combination of the UNISON and the new Mod Envelope conspiring to annoy me. If you turn UNISON off it is even more obvious but if you save and restart your host you will probably find that its gone. It seems to be some sort of cumulative error that builds up when you start playing with paramters. It is considerably worse with the PD Oscillator, to the point where I have temporarily given up on EGOKILLER IV.spaceman wrote:playing more than 2 notes at once often create artifacts (plop-like clicks) at the initial attack which I can't get rid of (not by changing the envelopes, nor anything else..)
The GATE is cool now that its on the Mod Matrix. Its kind of like an extra LFO.Sickle wrote:You plan on doing an fx-less version of this one as well? I tend to agree with your assesment of onboard fx & need neither the delay, distortion, nor gate for that matter..
I will get around to doing a light version but not in the near future. That's why I kept NEOkILLERlight on the site, for now.
For the other question - FEARkILLER will be next and yes, I'm already using GODkILLER in a couple of live versions for WGT, along with a lot of NEOkILLER and NEOkILLERlight.

I like it! You sure were right about the synth having almost only stuff that's actually USEFUL on the screen, without cluttering it with crap.
Some points, though:
#> The Mixer section is somewhat misplaced, sitting right next to the filters. Took me a while to find it. I see the need to conserve space, but the learning curve suffers a little from it. For me, at least.
#> I'm missing ctrl-click to reset a value to default / neutral. Is this a limitation of SE?
#> Both oscillators are not at the exact pitch. When running the oscillators unsynced, I have a slow, slow flanging effect.
#> The saw oscillators are not depicted correctly. They're showing |\ and /| but are in fact |\ and |/, meaning they're just polarity inverted.
#> Is there a way to override / dispose of the fade-in / amplitude envelope interpolation? Trying to create a "phat" kick, bass or just generally punchy sound is tricky with the 10ms attack ramp. I'd rather have the clicks and pops.
#> How about phase displacement on the saw oscillators, by the way? I haven't seen it in many synths, but the PW slider could double as a phase slider. It would be an excellent workaround (and also an instant phattener using LFO:s, pretty much like a detuner) for the slow attack I mentioned above.
#> Perceived volume management. This one's tricky, but I generally feel the synth is too quiet, only to suddenly overload with noise when I tweak certain parameters; resonance and distortion being the most obvious examples. I realize retaining a constant perceived loudness is almost impossible, but a quick solution might be to make the volume slider go higher. We want 11! =P
Example: When using just the one non-unison oscillator, I get about 17 dB headroom with everything maxed out and no filters. That's a bit low.
Now, with all this said; I've written (and received) bug reports, QA sheets and focus testing results long enough that I don't expect these changes to go in just becaues I say so; they are merely my $.02, and as long as you read and consider them, I'm more than happy. You've got a good and useful thing going here.
Good luck!

my mother used to bitch at me for reading a book under the covers with a flashlight because she said it would ruin my eyes to read in low light. my silly 9-year-old reply was "that's what they make pupils for." when i revived, i was seeing double....but it wasn't because of the light levels. you know when your eyes are tired because they feel tired. low contrast/low light will not damage your eyes. big contrasts, like welding arc or straight at the sun? that's how you damage your eyes.
my eyes didn't "stick that way" either, and i don't have hair on my palms or none of that. my knuckles are big i suppose, but i'm not sure it's from cracking them, tho it might be.
as i'm sure i've mentioned in one or two other threads, i like the gui's for the killer synths and i like the low contrast specifically. i like the nova2 skin for orion and would recommend them to anybody to try them out (energy xt too?).

i'd rather have a mullet than a comb-over.
fortunately, i have neither.

Thanks bones!!!
This really does rock big time!!
Really, You have convinced me....
From now on, the only synths I use will be SE synths.
This has NOTHING to do with the fact that most of them are free or really cheap.
