Is there a visual "click track"? VST or hardware?

Something that flashes a virtual or real LED after I give it the tempo (or sync's to host)?
I use Tracktion on a PC--a VST that does only that would be fine...
(Must go away for a couple of hours, so thanks in advance if you have an answer)

can put one together for you like that, but... i'd be reeeeel scared of it.. video latency = different from audio latency on my crap.. if you've got a deaf person or somethnig i'd prolly go by a synced led via midi first.
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

I'd be honored if you would do that for me, xoxos. The only deaf guy in my band is the soundman... If you do want to do this, don't spend much time on it because I'm kind of experimenting with what will work best for what situation may or may not happen! You're free to understand 20% of that.

Amen to that Xoxos! Orion's got a good LED indicator onboard, but wouldn't trust it at all to be visually accurate if ever to do so?
I might suggest something from www.redsound.com for your needs? MicroSyncBPM is actually VERY accurate at BPM detection and reliabilty. Though you may have to fiddle with it's feed and levels, once achieved - you may find it very handy?
That's the best I can think of, aside from getting a old MIDI Beat Box with a honking LED on it to fire up Traction and rely on it's flashes?

Thanks Steven--My idea is have a simple display that flashes just long enough for the drummer to get the right tempo and start the song before I play some loops. Not worth the effort to give him 'phones and a click track. The reason I brought this all up is because we did a gig last week and none of us are used to live loopery. Although everyone in the band thought we were in sync, I don't think we were, really--close, though!
Anyway, the drummer has good eyes, so he could see a virtual LED that I had synced to the song. Once a loop starts playing, the drummer and the loop will be right--no need for the LED after that.
I'm just a perfectionist. The good news is that the crowd doesn't give a rip anyway!

Thanks, xoxos--I returned your PM. Just make it like you think it should be. BTW--Old Ford spark coil, motorcycle battery, two pieces of wire mesh nailed to a short stool: guaranteed to get the attention of any drummer.

Aside from your plug-in idea.... When we play out live, we have all the basic backing tracks bounced down to a hard disk recorder and have seperate tracks with just the matching click tracks sent off through an auxilliary mixer channel.
Each song has 2 bars of clicks before everything comes in, so the drummer has time to count it out. We use a nady wireless monitor system so everyone in the band can hear the click and be on time. This setup also worked when we used to use Live out as well.
[edit: i sure wish i could type right the first time....]

Thanks much, xoxos!
xerocreep--yours is the ideal way for sure. Our problem is, the leader brings in a song, we learn it, decide which tempo we like, I tap tempo to determine what it is, go home and make loops, come back next time, the band plays at a different tempo, I say the loops don't sound good they are outa sync with our new tempo, everyone says, "No, they sound great," they don't sound great, they bug me 'cause I want it done RIGHT but these are deef ol' rock and rollers and what do they know or care?, so xoxos invents a simple solution that requires no intelligence on our part and now the drummer can start a song in the proper tempo before the rest of us come in and--knowing them--it probably won't work anyway but when all is said and done the audience can't tell the difference because what do they know? But I'll give the old college try and see what happens.
That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

HAHA, that makes perfect sense, and I understand dealing with other musicians. Especially those who arent used to dealingwith the perfectly quantised world of digital composition.
What software are you using to sequence live then?

Hi, xerocreep. Actually, I'm using Tracktion right now--not ideal for loop playing on the fly but understand this whole situation was just a trial balloon tried out a couple of weeks go. Just a few loops tried and the problem arose. If the band wants to go in this direction I imagine I'll have to look into Live or something.
Actually, I think the solution is to start my own laid-back three-man group--I'M SICK OF ROCK ANTHEMS!!!
