Ok, so I'm using the full verion of Jamstix, and I can't seem to get it to work with Jam to Midi. I have end-to-end turned on, but it doesn't seem that Jamstix is receiving midi from any synth VSTi I put in front of it. I tried creating a rack to manually make sure that the midi was mapped out of the VSTi into Jamstix, but it still doesn't seem to be receiving any data. I then just stuck any 2 VSTi together to see if both of them will play on the same track via one midi controller. Only the first one seems to be getting any midi data. Am I missing something configuration wise? or is something else wrong?

Why would you expect midi data to pass through a vsti? Most are synths which expect midi data and then output audio. Unless the vsti is specifically designed to output midi you won't get any out of it. If you want the same midi input to go to two vsti's on the same track put them in a rack but connect them in parallel, rather than in sequence.

I guess I was following the instructions from Jamstix and was wondering why things werent' working. I'll have to try it with a rack and see how it works.

There was something on their tracktion support thread about the order you put things on the track being important for the plugin to 'see' the jam input - maybe check that post.

Yeah, I've been looking for something like that but so far I've not been successful.timmyo wrote:There was something on their tracktion support thread about the order you put things on the track being important for the plugin to 'see' the jam input - maybe check that post.

As discussed on the rayzoon forum, in hosts that do not support routing a single MIDI input to multiple VSTis (such as Tracktion), you will need to use a rack/subhost. This is not a Jamstix limitation but goes for any VSTi in such hosts.

Right, Right. That's ok, unless there is another way at some point, I'll just use racks in Tracktion and EnergyXT elsewhere to do the routing. No biggie. That's what I have it for. Thanks for helping me understand things more, though.

Tracktion DOES support routing a single midi input to multiple VSTis, to do so use Rack filters. Set up a Rack filter, connect the midi in from the very left of the rack filter to as many VSTi inputs as you like. There's no host limitation whatsoever. If a vsti doesn't output midi, then there's no midi there for the host to work with. Is this somehow more complicated than I think it is?Zauni wrote:As discussed on the rayzoon forum, in hosts that do not support routing a single MIDI input to multiple VSTis (such as Tracktion)

Wouldn't it be horrible if T2 was released while you were on a train and didn't have your phone? I think you're smart not to take the chance.

As for the immediate issue, to route the midi input on a track to two vstis, set up a rack like this

If i'm missing something about what we're trying to achieve just whistle. Unless i get run over, or the liver finally gives up, it's likely i'll try to help. Or if you're really lucky, someone more competent like valley, or mod, or platinumears will take over

You are absolutely right and I should have known that. Thanks, Chico!chico.co.uk wrote: Tracktion DOES support routing a single midi input to multiple VSTis, to do so use Rack filters.
