I'm currently running a P4 2.8 with 1 gig of ram. I'm thinking of bumping that up to 2 meg. I thought it might be interesting to take a little survey of how much ram other users have, and if I would see some improved performance with more ram.

I use 1MB, but could do with more. MB sticks are expensive and mostly not available in these woods.

I forget.

With 2 meg you cannot even run an operating system :P ;)

I have 1Gb too, running ST2 Combi Kits + several Wusikstations and others without problems.

Same set-up here. I usually run ST2/SS2 RM-IV and RMX without a problem on Cubase SX 3.something

Those that can, do. Those that can't, argue about it on k-v-r

768 mb

Apparently that's not nearly enough for my new song, though. 2 full instances of ST2 and GuitarPort running at the same time CRIPPLES my comp, and I'm not even done with it. :(

I'm only running 512mb in my Shuttle. It is completely compromised for any serious audio work. It runs SampleTank well as long as I don't load more than about 250 mb of samples. I'm going to add another stick of 512. I'll gain dual channel memory mode. That along with a new video card (I'm using shared mem now) should make my system ok with the stuff I'm using now.

I will go with 2 gigs on the next system. The Shuttle has IRQ sharing issues with it's only pci slot and the onboard firewire controller. This makes it less than ideal for my firewire heavy system.

I'm working on a new system based on a standard motherboard...

6 months ago I was doing fine with just 512 MB. Now after having got Stylus RMX and EWQLSO silver 1 GB is a bit too little :(

I have 1 gig and am running Win2k. I've considered upgrading to 2 gig, but I'm not sure if it would do any good. Anyone know if Windows 2000 is capable of utilizing more than 1 gig of RAM? I'm certain that Mac users benefit from more RAM, just not sure about Windows users.

1 gig here. Never had to worry about it.

Forever,

Kim.

[nostalgia mode] Remember when 512k was a phenomenal amount of memory and 64k was standard? [/nostalgia mode]
