2 gb - And I definately noticed a performance improvement, especially when I removed my swap file/page file.

I have a gig of memory, but I could do with more!!!

2gb of dual-channel ram (recently upgraded from 1gb)

it doesn't affect how ableton performs too much (can't find an emoticon for 'CPU hog'), but I see noted improvements with Nuendo.

Halo, CounterStrike, and HalfLife2 run much better though.

Exactly, it is the swap file that introduces gaps in the processes.

I have 1G but often go over, use 1.2G sometimes, where it is using swap files and is not a great performer then. I use a couple instances of XPhrase and one and a half full decks (24 instruments) of Sampletank2XL and it gets crowded, have to freeze things...

Will be adding 512 to get 1.5G total

You might want to check your motherboard manual. Sometimes using an odd number of memory sticks disables dual channel memory support. When I upgraded from 512 to 1Gb my Sandra mem speed jumped from 2440 mb/sec to 3760 mb/sec.

It all depends on the Motherboard and chipset. With memory prices so low (just saw 2 512 PC3200 for $87 @ NewEgg) it might pay to grab two.

One git on my DAW. Need to go to two but the memory type I have in it is very expensive. 2 Gig on a secondary computer I plan to use just for hosting samplers.

All I need to be happy is one more VSTi.
