I'm looking for an uncompressed alternative to my minidisc recorder.
So, who can suggest a cheapish decent-quality portable option for recording wav files through an EXTERNAL mike to a flash-based or hard-drive based player?
For example, the IRiver H120 has external mic input and records to wav - but it's $300-ish.
Cheap, portable flash- or drive-based wav recording?

Can't you record .wav with your MD? Hi-MDs hold 1GB, too. Price won't be much less than the IRiver though, I guess.

Hi Peel - my (oldish) MD only records to ATRAC. I have been pondering switching to a Hi-MD, though my understanding is that you have to hack them somewhat to get an uncopy-prohibited wav out of them. Plus, I'm recording in Mongolia this summer, so the idea of no exposed moving parts really appeals. (Dust storms, etc....)
