I dont know how many times i been plooping away on the loo reading a comic when suddenly I get really inspired...
Or, fighting off family obligations, work and things that really need tending to, just to get a little music making time, and then being totally tune f**ked and staring at my guitar or pc screen for half an hour!
What about travelling on a bus and freakin out cause you just got an idea for a masterpiece and not even a tissue or pencil to get it down. You try hard to remember it, humming under your breath, imagining the sounds to use, but by the time you get home all thats stuck in your head is some Abba tune cause it was in the same key as your masterpiece!
The Muse can be a real bitch sometimes!

One day I'll finish my GP32 softstudio and it'll all be fine...
If you have an mp3 recorder, won't you look like a complete loon humming the various parts into it? Hmm.. whats needed is a portable multitracker thing that can use pitch to midi to record the tunes you hum... then use various synth sounds to play it back (so it doesn't just sound like a chorus of hums). That'd be pretty useful. You'd still probably look a bit silly using it on the bus tho
We can conclude that the DCT of a pizza doesn’t resemble anything edible.

well... hmmm... let me think... maybe... I guess it's important what total strangers on the bus or train think of me, if that interferes with me going after my passion c.q. muse?Doogle wrote:[...] won't you look like a complete loon humming the various parts into it?
And in the most perfect ideal world, after scoring several nr 1 hits with my musical genius, people would say... there's the genius HansM recording a new world famous song on his mp3 recorder

Oh god yes. Music isn't that important after allHansM wrote:I guess it's important what total strangers on the bus or train think of me, if that interferes with me going after my passion c.q. muse?
It's often good to look like a loon on the bus or train.. gives you more leg room.
And anyway, by saying that I errr.. actually meant umm.. that you wouldn't want to do that cos someone might nick your ideas with their mp3 recorder. Hum wars!

They'd only do that if they think my creative ideas are worth somethingDoogle wrote: that you wouldn't want to do that cos someone might nick your ideas with their mp3 recorder. Hum wars!
Actually I've never used my mp3 player to record yet, but I do almost always have a notebook with me for creative ideas.

Shouldn't that be "ploop" music?Derek up North wrote:.... could be the start of a whole new genre - "plop music"insaneacyde wrote:I dont know how many times i been plooping away on the loo![]()
Personally, I never really have the problem mentioned. I never write tunes from my head, I generally just fiddle around with this synth or that and suddenly I find or create a preset that HAS to be played in just THIS way. The rest of the tune just comes along afterwards as a result. The few times I've had a tune or beat in my head that has to be put down in music . . . when I do it, it sounds completely different than I thought and it's usually crap.
Ooops, there's that ploop music again!

I found this Googling:
Little Sound Dj is a music program for the Game Boy. It contains a sequencer, an
arpeggiator and sampled drum kits.
www.littlesounddj.com unfortunately doesn't seem to exist any more. Also reading some old tracker forums it's a real bitch to get it to work on GBAdvanced. Still, this would be the perfect instrument for 8bit 'Ploop' music eh?
p.s.
Eddie van Halen said he came up with the solo on Eruption while he was inna loo
. My potty room is way too small to play guitar in but I could just fit a GB in there with me.

I have left myself a message on my cellphone before humming a tune. I usually dont do anything with them though...
I think that music is more inspiring when you are out living life as opposed to sitting in a dark cramped room in front of a computer..
